The only subs that really blew me away were from local delis akin to those mentioned by why and Piob. I wanted to eat at Chik-Fil-A or Popeyes but the girl I was with insisted on Subway. Thus, I went for the footlong. No regrets.

Most 'pizza joints' have really crappy bread. I've come to realize that no matter how good it isn't, chain supermarket bakeries in America produce better bread than a lot of mom and pop places (but luckily not all!).

Safeway has very tasty pastries fwiw. Good roasted chicken too.

supermarket delis are very underrated when ordering deli sandwiches . plus you can get a large soda/chips for supermarket prices.

Of course they are really just moving from a few blocks away. Their sandwiches are really good (zagat named them "best sandwich in the nation" or something), but their current location is small and dingy and once I am walking a few blocks, I have tons of options. It's going to be awesome having it downstairs for days with bad weather or where you only have a minute to run out and grab something.

I don't think anyone missed it, I think they just moved on to talk about something else.

Publix (I think they are only in southeast US) makes great deli sandwiches. Their own bread + boars head + fresh everything else
