Not this time...
For the first time ever, I have hidden all the status updates of one of my facebook friends. I was dreading going to my facebook page and being subjected to this person's aggressive displays of stupidity. Now I'm a little bit happier than I was before.

WELL, SHE'D PROBABLY HATE MY GUTS, SO I'M SURE THERE'S SOMETHING THERE FOR ME TO FEEL LIKE IT WAS JUST ANOTHER DAY ON THIS GOD FORSAKEN BLUE BALL OF LONELINESS AND DESPAIR.

Thanks all - they came home yesterday. Of course, I got sick from lack of sleep in that awful hospital. I really don't understand why these hospitals don't set up something more comfortable for the fathers who stay. Don't they know who is paying the bills?

@Stitchy - btw, birth was at sinai hospital peepwall[1].gif

@acid - she's our second. we have a daughter that will be 2 next month.

@otc - being my offspring, certainly she'll be smarter than that

Maternity wards are not very father friendly places. I still enjoy pointing out to certain people that insist men entering the unit show official ID that it's women that steal babies, not men. Maternity people tend to be very penile-phobic.

A brief dialogue:

Genevieve: I don't even know how to say it, I just feel as one.
Me: You are one.
Genevieve: Oh, okay. I guess I did know how to say it.

nice 4.5mile hike today with wife and puppy. the puppy was fine walking through the snow, some shallow freezing creeks, and pretty rocky/tough/steep trail.

Good stuff. Where did you hike?

@ Lawrence: How is the puppy's ear?

There's a thread at Basenotes (fragrance website) where people give away fragrances for free. I've been a little disappointed because I've given away some good stuff and not even gotten a thank-you a number of times. But tonight I gave away a scent that's fairly rare and that's very meaningful to the person I'm giving it to. She wrote me a very nice note, which made me feel nice.

Sterling forest. I never get tired of that place. Actually the wife and I eventually did get tired of it (we did most of the hikes already), but now with the puppy its nice to see what he's capable of.
