I had a discussion with a guy in Northwestern Business school last year at a party, a proffessor who teaches international business development, and I was struck by how irrelevant what they tought was to what I do on a day to day basis. not that I want to say you can't teach what I do, its just I think that the acedemic world has a very distroted view of what I do. "international deal closure" is almost all about
1. negotiating
2. selling
3. understanding the mechanics of international sales
4. understanding the difference between international business (and non-business) cultures.
5. communicating simply and clearly with short simple words
that would sum up the important curriculum.
I never hire anybody without a shitload of sales experience, myself
