it will if they've been doing something else since undergrad and want to make the switch. Lots of S&T recruitment at the MBA level for their associate classes.

The guy I knew with the math degree wanted the MBA for the non-quant aspects. He worked for a large defense contractor and felt he was getting held back because his thinking and training was all one way. Basically, he hoped he could lead a team in a more sound fashion after getting his MBA.

I honestly don't want an MBA, but I feel like you hit a wall pretty early these days without one even if you are already on a managing course.

What about an execMBA? A friend of mine, already pretty happy with his position, is getting one just "for the letters". He feels like he's the only one of his peers that don't have some sort of grad school abbreviation on their business cards.

I know a couple of physicians that did the exec MBA. Talk about workload...MBA course work while practicing medicine? Yikes.

Off the top of my head, hospitalists and extendivists (hospital and SNFs). One guy owned his own extendivist practice, had about 20 nurse pracs and eight doctors working for him while he did his MBA. Friggin' masochist.

Why do you have a mortgage at such a young age?!

Ehh.. well I guess 27 isn't ridiculous, but still, I don't envision myself getting a mortgage until I'm married and ready to settle down.

Why? Precisely for the reason you just mentioned -- it ties you down to wherever you are.
