things that are making you happy - Page 1745

Get to pimp out this tux again for a charity ball. I wish I could wear a tux more than once or twice a year. I need to join MI6.

And yeah, I did an atrocious job of tying the bow tie. I hate those things. And I'll probably shorten the sleeves a little.

You should get a tux with peaked lapels.

I'd normally baldy[1].gif about this and coming comments, but I brought it on myself. Carry on.

++++ Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
so I left the bay area approximately 23 hours ago, after chugging a couple of pints at bj's, got through security just before the gates were opened, the cattle class was less than 3/4 full, the exit row I sat in was empty save for me, and the pretty f.a. buckled in front of me and I got to a long conversation and she asked me if there's anything that I'd want and I said I forgot my sleeping pills and so she snuck me one from her stash.... (it occurred to me after she gave me the pill that she might've passed me something illegal, but I was desperate to get maximum sleep hours and I dozed off for maybe 6, 7 hours.
this was perhaps the most pleasurable long haul economy class trip I've taken my entire adult life.

thanks! glad you had a good trip.

Stitch, did you get a lot done in NY? You didn't sneak off to shop did you? laugh.gif

edit - lol JJ, have a look below. smile.gif no shopping. barely took a break to eat.

well, today was a hell of a day. hard to say its making me happy, after seeing the destruction that the city of seagate suffered. we only scratched the surface of what needs to be done. and this is the 3rd trip of this organization, and 3 weeks after the storm, with locals and others organization that have been helping every day.

seeing peoples entire homes and belongs just obliterated is a hard thing to see. we were mostly doing demo and clean up, the rebuilding is still a while away. but, we put in a hard days work, and at least, for the people who owned the house we worked on, i think we made a difference.

i may post some pics later, or put up a thread about it. it was like seeing a war zone. just terrible.

That's what I'm hearing too stitch. I just donated a few cupboards full of food and sent another monetary contribution. It's really bad in certain places and as per usual the media has already forgotten.

very awesome of you to donate. it will surely become yesterdays news long before the work is done. but thats the way it goes. we are kind of on standby to see if they will call our group back for a fourth mission. i hope i can make it if we do.

Glad you were able to go help out. I'm impressed by your company making three trips, and allowing its employees to help without losing pay.

me too.

while it was very kind of my boss to let me go and get paid, i think i should clarify. the trips were made by the community at large, and headed by one coordinator. my boss heard about the trips, went on the last one, last sunday, and told me that if i wanted, he would gladly give me off to go on this one today. it was an opportunity i felt would be wrong to pass up on.

Thanks for the clarification, but your boss participating and allowing others to do so is just as good. You work for a good guy.
