as to 300 bottles, i dont exactly understand it, but i do understand how essentially its not different than any other item than many people here collect. some are just more common than others.
Perfumery is an art form, and the scents that perfumers produce can be quite beautiful. Or if they are not beautiful in a straightforward sense of the term, they are nonetheless compelling innovations or variations on themes from the history of perfumery. I own lots of scents mainly because I love being able to smell these wonderful creations whenever I want. There are some that I hardly ever wear as my scent of the day, but that I put on in the morning or after work just because I enjoy and appreciate them for myself. There's hardly a day where I don't open my fragrance closet and just smell a whole bunch of scents.
Also, not all of those three hundred some fragrances are full bottles. A fair number of them are decants. Fragrance enthusiasts who are collectors like to have full bottles of everything because the bottle and the box are important parts of what they're collecting. For me it's the juice that's most important. I don't need 100 or 50 ml of a lot of the scents I own, so it would be silly to own whole bottles of them.
