I'm sure all the Pakistanis are happy they only have to put up with the unmanned drones killing (almost) indiscriminately, with no way to seek justice if innocents are killed.

I'm sure they'll also be happy when Americas economy finally collapses(as in actually collapses, depression style) and takes the rest of the world with it.

I'm also absolutely sure that all the people who currently are living off government money will be absolutely thrilled when the money runs out, and their asses are on the street, because who's going to bail them out?? The rich people?? HAHAHAHAHAH.

If your friends have the mental capacity of at least a 10 year old(given that they are super religious, that's questionable, but still), they would be able to figure out that this is a perfect example for the fact that the bible isn't supposed to be take literally. Like any ancient text, it can serve as a guidance, using the stories to find positive advice and disregard the negative as something that may have been useful and/or accepted advice when it was written, but completely obsolete now.

Just tell that to so called Christians who are justifying their intolerance and bigotry through these quotations..

The Bible has been written by men ..

BTW, I'm a Christian myself..

Remind me which party and president started the war in Iraq and Afghanistan?

Oh and the GFC wasn't that a republican initiative?

While both of them where started by Republican Presidents, the war in Afghanistan had HUGE popular support when it started, from all sides, and to a lesser degree, even internationally. The fact that the US completely fucked things up during the course of the war, isn't really something you can blame on one party(that goes for both wars).

The war in Iraq, was the right war for the wrong reasons and with a terrible plan(aka no plan at all). There is an interview with Dick Cheney, where he gets asked why the US didn't occupy Iraq during the first Gulf war. His answer was because (paraphrased) It would end up in the biggest clusterfuck that country had ever seen, and there would be no way for us(the US) to solve it. So basically everything that happened when they went for the second round.

However, and this goes for both wars, What Obama is doing now, is nothing short of shitting on the lives and sacrifices that all the military members and their family members have given, by pulling out before the job is done, leaving the 2 countries to basically rot in their own shit and become some Islamic extremist state that no one gives a fuck about, unless they happen to blow up some westerners.

Looks like I've witnessed the miracle of transubstantiation as the Happy thread has taken on the form of the Politics and Biblical Exegesis thread. It's my first miracle!

I must have had quite an adventure in my dreams last night. I typically sleep under three sheets; when I woke up this morning, the sheet that should be on top was on the bottom, and the sheet that should be on the bottom was on the top. (The middle sheet stayed in the middle, of course.) I have no idea how I could have done that, but I am pretty impressed with myself.

3 sheets is two too many. I sleep with a top sheet and I have two blankets on top of that for warmth but I do not see the necessity of three sheets. I'm sorry L'in, we're just going to have to agree to disagree about this. I hope it doesn't hurt our internet friendship.

I'm seriously consider buying a slightly used Jaguar. I must be out of my mind all I hear about these things is that they are a disaster to maintain. But that little jaguar hood ornament is so goddamn sexy.
