+1 to that. I have a terrible habit of unhatched chicken enumeration, and it's a sure fire way to jinx yourself.

had a great evening at shul - simhat torah is my favorite holiday, I was the guy who raised the torah after the reading, and tonight is the night when the torah is at its most assymetrical, so that was cool.

tomorrow I am heading off on a really cool trip - 4 nights in paris, then a weekend on the coast of turkey, then brussles and amsterdam. good food

^that sounds like a great trip!

I'm happy that my week-long class (that I'm teaching) starts tomorrow. It's always a lot of work to get ready, but so much fun during. We're spending about half of the week down in the redrock desert in some pretty amazing state and national parks.

In just a few moments, I am going to leave my office and drive to my home. It will be a 35 minute drive or so. Then I will drink some port, and maybe post silly things in the Drunk Post thread, but also maybe not. (This is America, and I am free in that regard.)

I wish I was able to get drunk on just a little port.

The new KISS record is released tomorrow. (I mean Tuesday; it is Monday now where I live.) I'm enjoying the new single quite a bit.

Congratulations Acid! Our 14th is in...um...9 days. eek.gif

This is how you do a conference!

I'm pretty proud of myself for managing all the work as well as I have.

Good work.

good luck

This - definitely take time out to work up a good sweat.

Yo, what? Some of their breakfast pastries are very satisfying. But it's sure not French baking.

True conversation from Petco:

Cashier: Hey, how are you doing? It's been a long time since I've seen you!
Me: That is because I haven't been here for a while. [Maybe that wasn't the best response. But as a scholar, my first impulse is to explain the phenomenon in question. I feel that I did so effectively in this case.]
Cashier (smiling): Well, your absence has surely been noticed.

I am happy that someone thought of me enough to miss me, even if it was just the cashier at Petco.

I can think of like 80,000 better responses after-the-fact but damned if I'd come up with any of them when it mattered. smile.gif

The reason I haven't been there in a while is that they don't carry the bff cat food that both Genevieve and I love. But I didn't want to say that.

I love the bff, by the way, just because of its ridiculously adorable logo.

It's okay to open up about your feelings; no one will judge you. (Well, I won't at least. Probably some other people will.) I am sure your heart is moved by the adorableness of the bff cat food logo. It can't not be.

I decided to push back my flight a day to spend a little more time with some old friends which resulted in my new flight having a 9 hour layover at HKG international airport 12am-9am.
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
I was semi pissed that the only open Cathay Pacific Lounge was packed with loud people...normally these Cathay Cathay Pacific Lounges are awesome, but there was 5 huge families just taking over the place.

So I decided to just walk around this whole airport to get some exercise..... if anyone has been to HKIA the place is epic-ly large. I think I did over 2.5miles walking.

I got hungry decided to get some sort of soup meal (ramen/wanton) because its what AZNs do best...but I remembered that AZN McDonalds usually have some weird meal offering....

The EBI burger (shrimp based patty with a sesame based dressing.... with Seaweed shaker fries (they provide a bag and flavor packet and you shake it yourself).

^it was actually pretty good. another weird thing about AZN McDonalds.... everyone just leaves there stuff at the table after eating...then a janitor cleans it up.

I'm really happy that my parents are in good health. My brother and sister were good I spent just enough time with everyone before we started to get sick of each other. I made some decent cash playing poker, and I'll be in JFK by tomorrow. I'm just worried that the fucking loud annoying families at the Cathay Pacific lounge aren't on my flight at 9am.
