my mom was fine when I arrived last saturday night. she just had finished up her antibiotic course and was discharged sunday morning.

brought her back home and saw my dad walking around unassisted, eating unassisted, and pretty much normal with only slight residuals (stroke after effects). I get choked thinking about the vast improvement he's made since the stroke (which happened last Xmas no less).

it was actually great seeing the whole family back together.

I met up with some really close friends yesterday (whom are married and about have a baby girl).
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
when I asked them about what her name is going to be... they started laughing because they only then realized why the name felt so familiar to both of them even though no one in their immediate family has a similar name... she's going to be named Lauren. I'm pushing for the spelling to be Lawren smile.gif

Just returned from a lovely house party at a friends place.
Plenty of new interesting people and had a great chat with one of the girls I gave a lift home.
19yr. old athlete attending a very selective sports university worship2.gif

I had a phone interview yesterday, and I have a Skype interview during my lunch hour today.

Truth be told, I'm not sure about the job. After talking with their HR person yesterday, I'm more interested than I was, but I still don't know if it's the right direction. I figure I'll hear them out today and go from there.

When we meet this weekend, you're going down!

Plus, I'm going to beat you senseless at fantasy football.

My happy story isn't as good as those, but it could be worse, I guess. I cut my hair shorter than I intended to, but that means I can drive with the window open and not worry about it getting messed up.

Thanks! Though you must have me confused with someone else - I'm not a "congrads" guy. It actually drives me nuts when people spell it that way. In fact, it drives me nuts that most people are terrible spellers overall, and I try to be dilligent about my own speling.

Thanks! Like I said, I don't know if I'll take the job even if they offer it, but it's certainly nice to be pursued. As anyone who has read my posts about my career knows, I'm definitely ready for the next step, and it's awesome to see some movement on that front. Even if this isn't the right opportunity, it's reassuring that I'm getting some hits in my search.

I remember your post from last spring about "congrads." It still makes me laugh.

I think she's a wonderful person, and I don't have a single negative thing to say about her. But I'm just not the kind of person who can say "Love you" except in very rare circumstances. I'm not sure how to proceed.
Posted in the happy thread because she thinks highly enough of me to say "Love you." That's pretty awesome.

You have no hesitations that I know of when I close messages to you with "Love you".

Love you.

Here's what's making me happy this morning: I learned that the Houston Astros will be introducing their new uniforms and logos a month from today. Their design has been a mess since they abandoned the tequila sunrise look, IMO. Just over the last year or two, the Mets, Jays, Orioles, and A's have vastly improved their looks and made baseball a more enjoyable game to watch. Hopefully the Astros follow the trend. (What would make me overjoyed is if the Brewers introduced a new look, but I'm not holding my breath.)

Thanks, T! Even if this one doesn't, it has been good practice, so to speak. It has given me a chance to learn what it's like to be recruited, rather than an applicant, and all of the reflection on whether this is potentially the right step has help to crystallize exactly where I want to head with my career.

I don't remember that post, but it certainly does sound like me.

It's definitely good to have the ball in my court. I can pretty much control the whole process, and it makes me feel better if I ultimately walk away. They came to me, so I don't feel like I owe them anything if I decide it's not the right move.

Haha. Not gonna be in Baltimore. That was just a joke. That said, my brother is in law school in DC, so I'll almost certainly be up there visiting some time. Perhaps I'll let you know when/if that happens. Or perhaps I'll turn the creeper table and just appear at your house. peepwall[1].gif

I saw it. Sorry I didn't respond - I read it in haste (I have a bad habit of getting updates on my phone and telling myself I'll respond later, only to forget). T'was funny.
