I was very angry about losing my stamps earlier tonight, but then I had two waffles with syrup on them and now my mood has improved by a lot. There's probably a lesson I can draw from that.

I think you know in your heart that those were not the best words to type into the SF Reply box. (I don't mean heart literally. As a man of medicine of course you know the heart is not really the organ of thinking. I know it too.)

Oh damn it all to hell! I feel like I've been forsaken by the Lord, or by whoever it is who's responsible for watching over me and making sure I don't lose my stamps. (If there isn't any such deity or person, there certainly should be.)

Is this just a weird and unfunny gag that you're keeping up for some mysterious reason? Or are you having some sort of psychotic break?

while the wife's out of town, I finally get to watch a docu-series I downloaded, "metal evolution", an 8 part documentary about heavy metal from the early 60s onwards, volume turned up, without her complaining about the "noise(?!)", while drinking my scotch ales. fuck yeah!

new monoclonal antibody just confirmed this fucking cool result I had but wasn't totally sure on.

It took ages to arrive, was expensive, and basically could've been a big waste since it wasn't designed to work how i used it...but it did work...and confirmed a fascinating result....very happy.

This is not rocket science. I was angry because I made a mistake that I've made a hundred other times and didn't learn from. Then after some time passed and I consumed some food, I wasn't so angry anymore. It turned out that much of my anger could be accounted for by my not having eaten enough. I'm sure this is not actually confusing in real life, although one could pretend to be confused by it if one really wanted to write smartass posts on the Internet.

Edit to add this: It seems like dopey found the stamps I had lost. Since dopey doesn't live anywhere near me, I obviously made a huge mistake in storing them. I cannot imagine misplacing my stamps so badly that they'd end up in dopey's possession unless some kind of deity were working against me. QED.

my young children also get cranky when they have not eaten. but they have never misplaced their belongings so egregiously.
