when we saw how long the lines to get in were - we ate the space cakes and everything just sailed smoooothly from there. plus the weather was awesome (cool breeze and low 70's) by the time the movie started the cakes kicked in... and even with shitty seats near to the front of the gigantic IMAX screen it was a memorable movie going experience.

after the movie I drove gingerly to the *Galaxy Diner (the only place I could remember that would be open at 4am and relatively near my friends hotel) and we ate some breakfast. Luckily there was an open legal parking spot good for the whole next day so after the food I called it a night and just took a cab home to brooklyn.

*The galaxy diner is actually very inexpensive (like denny's prices), the food is alright (but spectacular after eating spacecakes at 4am).

When I got home my wife was totally cool (she was informed of the plans beforehand).

it was awesome. if you liked the other two Nolan batman offerings then this will be the perfect ending. Just get into a theater before all the spoilers get to you.

the disclaimer was that I was high off space cakes. there were people complaining at my friend and I when we'd randomly whisper out TV shows/movies that the bit actors were part of.

the only bad part is that it was like 3hours long and felt like almost 4 hours long. i guess it was a really really long movie.

I received the cutest phone call from Jamie just now. She's celebrating her b-day tonight and apparently, the DJ brought her up on stage to greet her happy b-day in front of everybody. I could barely hear from the music in the background but I asked if she was drunk and she said no. Good stuff.

I was a little sneaky about it. Instead of a raise, I got my salary compressed to 10 months. Then I get a 10% raise for every extra month of salary (up to two months) that I bring in in grants each year nod[1].gif

about 100 friends got together on the beach to launch lanterns - you light a small flamible bit inside the paper lantern, and it flies away. it was agreat deal of fun, and, because I am prety good at things like lighting fires in the wind, I was a major contributor to the event, which made my kids very proud, and one of my daugners told me I was very
awesome.
