Congrats on winding that down, GF. I know it was a huge relief to me when I finally got off the treadmill, and it took me a couple of years to stop dreading travel.

On my way home for 3 weeks, had 4 connections to make just to get home early enough, but made the last connection and I am on my way

As a parting speech, I told my superiors how thankful I am, that I learned a lot, and then I gave a special shout out to the manager I worked most closely with. We've become friends, actually, and it was a pretty emotional moment. I thanked him for not only being a great mentor, but a friend as well and then I started to choke up and tear up a little bit (no homo).
All the superiors were obviously touched by my speech and now I'm just looking forward to being staffed back in Boston again!
I get to hang out with my parents and friends again so I'm super excited icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif
So are you moving from Dallas back to Boston now?

making me happy, just had a great FB convo with an SF'er

Oh, don't get me wrong, Denver is a beautiful city. The weather there is absolutely amazing and the number of days of sunshine it gets is ridiculous. I'm just glad to finally be moving on.

Thanks. It took you YEARS to stop dreading travel? Wow. Kudos for sticking it out so long!

Nope! Still living in Dallas, but instead of flying to Denver every week, I'll be flying back to Boston instead for my projects.

Woke up and the orange elephant of depression has stepped off my head. That's something, at least.

Remind me again why you moved to Dallas then?

Is this like one of those deals where they staff out of town lawyers on projects so that they can bill clients from when you wake up until when you go to sleep since but-for the client demands, you would have been at home?

I suppose its probably much nicer to do the traveling consultant thing if you are stationed in a city that you already know and have friends in...get to hang out with disparate groups of friends in different states on a weekly basis.

I said to somebody today that my friend's cat says, "irregardless" therefore he shouldn't.

Yesterday at work a colleague introduced me to her stuffed animal. (It was a bear, if you think that kind of information is important.) She pretended that the stuffed animal could engage in conversations. What a funny notion that is!

EDIT @pB: Did you really do that?!

No, but I totally would if I were to hear the pseudo-word.

Last week she backed hard into a parked car while trying to get out of a spot (we live atop a steep hill). Other car was fine but the shop told her it would be $600 to repair the damage to her bumper. The next day she got lightly rear-ended, but the damage was just enough that the insurance for the guy who hit her is paying to replace the entire bumper, including the damage she had previously incurred. Absurd.

Yeah, it really wasn't the right move on the company's part in terms of timing. Our group's head received instructions to open a satellite office in Texas and had to ask for volunteers. The goal is to get some project work down here but there just isn't any available yet, so we're being staffed back in Boston again. I don't mind it though. It's kind of the best of both worlds because I get the perks of traveling while still getting to see my friends back home.
