But Clint Eastwood never told me about those so they are by default inferior.

When I first moved here, I was very disappointed at the way the locals pronounced things. Streets and surrounding cities have such beautiful French names, but they are anglicized and thus uglified. Chouteau Avenue, for example, is pronounced SHOW-doh. Creve Coeur is pronounced KREEV-KOOR. And Gravois is pronounced GRAV-oy. Irregardless, in my own mind I pronounce them in French.

what's ted drewes, en francais?

Cheers, fellow SFers.

one of these days I ahve to take you to a family holiday, so that when my mother tells me I am pretentious, I can say "me? no, please meet my friend" then I will seem like a breath of fresh country air.

I can't wait! Just let me know the time and place. bounce2.gif

(FWIW, I don't really say St. Louis with a French pronunciation. I just say Saint Lewis. I hope I'm still pretentious enough to secure an invitation!)

Also, I do say auto da fé with a Portuguese pronunciation, but that's because I don't even know how it's supposed to be pronounced in English.

Since the semester ended I've felt like I'm slacking off, and I hate that. I started my construction job this week, picked up another part time gig, and I'm in talks with a few people about putting together a startup that I could manage while I'm in Iceland. I've been up since 6am, working since 7am, just got back from my regular job and I've just finished answering my emails from today.

I finally feel productive again :)
