I use bic pen and just go at it. Laptop keyboards are more picky, but usually you can pull apart a desktop keyboard without issues. The only keys that should have wires and extra brackets are the larger keys (like space/shift/enter).
Then you can just put the keyboard in the dishwasher with the keys in the silverware basket and run it. Let it thourougly dry and it will still work.
The keys might be weird afterwards though without some sort of lubricant. I haven't found the best option, but some sort of grease on a Q-tip and hit every key hole and it will be good as new.
