Went to the new Filene's in Union Square. Â I thought it was far nicer than the other two stores in the city. Â Nice selection of Oxxford suits ($800) and a number of Corelioni (sp?) suits at about $500. Â Also saw a number of nice Oxxford ties for $50. Â Good selection of Hickey Freeman shirts, as well as Basile. Â I also saw a few impressive Ralph Lauren shirts with a "Made in Italy" tag. Â Not Purple Label, of course, but nice thick buttons and they listed for $165 (being sold for 80 or so).
RL Polo shirts for $165? Since when? I have never seen this in my life. Jon.
Ralph Lauren DO make some high-end shirts under the Blue Label (aka Polo by Ralph Lauren). The latest Alpine group contains a lot of shirts that are Made In Italy. One of the shirt from that group, a dark green one, has the MSRP of $295. As recent as two years ago, I saw a cashmere blue label shirt with a MSRP of $895 at the Rodeo Polo store. However, Â you will only find these higher priced Polo at the full-priced Polo stores and high-end department stores. In fact, this Fall, Polo is launching a group of clothing under the heading "Collection", most of these pieces do not have any logos on them.
