Naked and famous denim - Page 607

Oh, hai interwebs!

Hopefully my conspicuous lack of annoying threads has built me up enough goodwill to ask this n00b question:

I received my first pair of Slim Guy brown canvas jeans today, and was a bit thrown-off by the tag. It mentions raw indigo, fading, non-washing, etc. Should I really treat these like a typical raw jean, foregoing washing, etc.? I was thinking this would be a bit more like a traditional, thicker khaki-type outing than a raw jeans adventure. And they're pretty damn tight on my cake-pop loving self -- should I expect them to stretch at all? (I've used the search function, but found nothing conclusive).

Any guidance is greatly appreciated.

From what you have written I assume these are the Slim guy Chinos. If that is the case then I wouldn't worry to much about your washing and soaking rituals, unless you prefer a softer pair of jawns then you may want to wash or soak to get some of the starch off. Just remember that the reason most guys and gals on here forego washes is to get the most contrast out of there jeans. These chinos should not fade the same way, they are a denim fabric (wrap and weft) but do not behave the same way as an indigo pair of jeans. From what I have experienced with my pair of NF chinos, they will stretch a tad but not much, I have recently lost weight and they feel like a more relaxed pair of Khaki 5 pocket-type trousers. Hope this helps, good luck.

Nice! Yeah, they are these:

The site just calls them 'Slim Guy brown canvas', so I was a bit confused. Just didn't want to do something that would wreck the full denim experience.

Thanks.

where can you get the brown canvas model?

They're from an older season, I see them most often on sale on Gilt or PLNDR or other discount sites. I have one in size 31 for sale if you're interested, brand new.

It's the Canvas Duck model and they're scarce but still on some sites as mentioned above.  You could also wait until they're re-released this fall.

The brown canvas is different from the duck canvas.

personally, with the red cores and the brown cores (dirty fades) i would LOVE to see a dark indigo with camo-core/camo weft ---> fades to camoflage.

Dear Brandon,

Make it Happen.

Sincerely,

Don't worry about it noobizor. I have them and they are not raw or selvedge. I think that tag with the instructions comes on all of their jeans.

Is the stretching that occurs just in the waistline, or will they loosen up all over?

I go TTS (with a lot of slouching:)) because my legs wouldn't fit otherwise. I'm sure many others do too.

mine stretched in the thighs from the combination of lifting and biking.  usually the combination of both, biking after ive squatted so my quads are all pumped.  so now when i wear them while my legs are cold, there is a slight amount of pinchable room.  i sized down 1 to fit my quads in the first place so the seat itself was never too tight for me, only in the thighs

I have been wearing LHT everyday after work and most weekends since early december and they are begining to stretch in the waist. I did one cool soak (not cold not warm or luke warm for that matter) way back in febuaryish...would it be beneficial to do another one with warm or hot water to shrink up the waste or does that even happen if I were to try?

Still havent washed or soaked my slubs...keep those for work on fridays. Prob wont wear them much this summer much to warm to walk 1.5 miles to work in the morning in them.

Hot soak or wash will shrink them a little bit.

Shit, so they won't stretch much?

I was told to expect them to stretch an inch or two so I should get a size to where I can barely button them or not button them at all. I did that and I can button the top button and that is it.

Are there are tricks to stretch these things out at all?

Also I need to take 3 inches off inseam, should I do that after the first wash or before?

i just said they stretch.....the waist stretches really easily and thighs can stretch if you workout or you can always stuff them with stuff.  they wont shrink unless you get the oni collabs or the flathead collabs so you can hem before a wash.  also you should make sure that the hem is still to your liking 3" higher up from the natural hem because it tapers so it might be wider higher up

Just curious, do many people just roll it up? I can double cuff it to perfect length but I think hemming would be more natural.
