This will be my first raw denim, so I was just wondering if I need to soak N&F or something before getting them hemmed so they don't get jacked up over time. Also, is there anything in particular I should look out for when looking for a tailor to hem them? And what do I need to have in mind when getting them hemmed?

Thanks!

Yes you will need to get them hemmed, certain stores will hem them for free, or some will hem with chain stitching for around 25 bucks. I would try out the weird guy fit if you are 5'5, tapered jeans look better on shorter people, and they have more room in the thigh, and have shorter inseams. I'm 5'7 and don't have to hem WG, but there is no way not to hem SG.

I have 25 inch thighs and 16 inch calfs (if I remember correctly) and that is why I wear the WG fit, tagged size 33. Is your waist 31 inches measured, or is that the tagged size of your current levis?
NF Skinny Guy Deep Indigo
* Size 30 (31" waist, 9.5" rise, 10.5" thigh, 7.7" knee, 37.5" inseam, 7" leg opening)
NF WG Deep Indigo
* Size 29 (31" waist, 10" rise, 11.25" thigh, 8" knee, 35.5"

My waist is 31 inches measured. I think Levi's is vanity sized by 1 though so my sized 31 Levi's that i get is like a 32 inch waist and I just wear a belt with it to keep it up. Okay, that's what I was thinking too but I keep reading that the skinny guys are like SUPER skinny. (not sure if they meant more so than levi's 511's though). Thanks for your help! :)

I only wear this belt with jeans, I could not see myself using it for anything else, especially since the indigo rubes off onto the belt in some places.
Other question, why do people wax their jeans?

http://www.narragansettleathers.com/.  Email them and the will literally make you any belt you want for a really good price.  I heard about them in Boston and have seen some of the belts in person. Good thickness, good buckle choices but the shipping wait can get tedious.  This a good option only if you live in the continental US though.  I always go with dark brown so that you can't see the indigo.

Don't all belts fade/get worn over time?

Guy, the store manager at Four Horsemen in Victoria, BC, has been wearing these WeirdGuy Green Selvedge for almost 2 years! These are not to be confused with the "greencast" denim. This is the forest green denim made by N&F in 2010...

Do you know if these have ever been washed?

Here's my 34 WG Elephant 2s. What you guys think? Like most my jeans I have some extra room in the waist so my thighs fit. I think they look Ok, I might have fit into a 33 but it would have been pretty miserable.

Curse of the large hips. I'd agree that they look ok, but wouldn't recommend the 33. The heavier denim is harder to stretch, but if you stick with it it will become incredibly soft.

What are your measurements? I'll post a pic or two in my 33 sulphur WGs for a comparison if we're roughly the same size.

Thanks mang. I agree I think a 33 would have been too restricting in the hips. I just took out the trash in them and felt that constricting feeling around my hips while walking up hill, which is probably a good sign that these were the right size for me.

I'm 5'7 172lbs, 34.5" waist where I wear jeans with a low rise (natural 33" waist), 25-26" Thighs at crotch, 15" calves.

Ok yeah - 6', 192 lbs, 34" inch natwaist, 35" @ hips, 25" thigh at crotch. Probably not the best comparisons... shog[1].gif

Ah I see. I think 34s were right for me in the elephants, if I want to get a left hand twill or something else I might get a 33. The guy at Blue Owl was awesome and had measurments of every size 34 he had, I picked one of the smallest measuring ones. It was actually surprising to see how much they differ, between .5".
