I have a question about these indigo/indigos that I just received. When I tried them on, at first I wasn't able to button the bottoms buttons but with about a minute or so of trying I got the top button to button. Then after about half an hour of wear I was able to coax the other buttons to go ahead and button up. The waist has a bit of room in it, but the thighs are basically skin tight at this point. Should I go ahead and switch these out for a smaller size because of the waist, or should they be good? I feel like after stretching the thighs and everything else will be where I want them, but I'm worried about the waist becoming too big, but I'm also worried that if I size down a size or two that everything else in the jean will be too tight. What should I do? frown.gif

you guys are right, sorry for cluttering the thread.  Just looking for extra guidance when making my first purchase.  Think I found a store nearby that I can try them on at.  I'll post some pictures up.

You should NOT be dumb. If the thighs are skin tight now, sizing down will only make them fit more poorly. Thighs in general do not stretch the way a waistband can be coaxed to do.

Measure self. Measure jeans. Buy what correlates. Whether that's "sized down" or not shouldn't have any bearing. If there is some other discrepancy, then look for a more accommodating cut.

Thanks for the help! This is my first pair of "real" jeans, so I wasn't too sure how much stretching these would do. I think I'm going to keep these since the thighs will stretch a tiny bit which is right where I want them smile.gif

My pair of WG fits too loose in the waist, but its what I needed to do to accomodate my legs. I don't have massive tree trunks by any means, but I've tried sizing down in denim the legs never stretched enough for my liking. I think I need to accept that the cut just doesn't work for me (rise too low and the leg to waist measurements don't work well for me). But I love the near perfect taper. Might be some WG Deep Indigo up for sale soon.

Anyone know of denim that is somewhat like the WG as far as the taper was concerned, but with a higher rise? I was looking at the 3Sixteen slim tapered but I'm not entirely sure what would work best.

Need some inputs, im about to order a pair of N&F skinny guys online from Tate+Yoko. They offer free chain stitching hemming. Should i take up this offer? Or would it be best if i wait for them to come in the mail and take them to my local seamstress?

Weird guy highs or take a look at imperial shearers? But both are pretty much the same anyways if you look at the measurements. The shearers might be slimmer iirc

sofaKing,  tapering the legs wont really ruin the selvedge, it'll make it wider but depending on how much of a taper I wouldn't think it'll make it look bad if you decide to cuff. And BO's measurements are pretty spot on but in my experience with only the Elephant 2's they both ran true to tag with the waist aligned, everything else was correct.

Don't like the stiching on imperials, I prefer a clean back pocket.

The WG Highs should have the rise you are looking for, if anything, the rise may be a bit too high. Still much better than the alternatives. I dont remember which 3Sixteen I tried on at Barneys but they were way too low rise for me.

This actually may be my problem. I took a look at the Weird Guy High measurements and I don't think those will help either, since the thighs will still probably be too tight.

I believe the main problem with all of this is how small my waist is (~30, or a 31 where WGs sit) compared to how large my thighs are (~22"). Since it seems like none of the current N&F cuts will fit me properly, does anyone have any recommendations that are under $200?

edit: Also, I enjoy having a taper (hence liking the WG).

This is probably a stupid question, but for the N&F collaboration with Oni (and others), do they use the same denim as Oni would typically produce? If so, why would Oni be okay with N&F producing a pair of jeans with their denim and then charging less?
