keep in mind that Ive only worn them about 10 days now.

thanks so much acl!

Ok who is selling these online. Tobi and Revolve don't have them listed and I'd like to get a pair.

No problem; there's a lot of quirks to wearing raw. I'd wear them as often as I could (ideally every day) to get the highest contrast fades. It takes a few weeks to wear the stiffness out.

As far as I know, no N&F jeans come with a chainstitched hem.

According to the brand's policy, chainstitching wouldn't really be necessary, as they don't claim to be repros, the roping effect on the hem, however, would be nice to have

I haven't tried them on after the soak yet, but if they still fit the next step will be a chainstitched hem.

Preliminary measurements (the jeans are not dry yet), tell me that, as expected from sanforized denim, they didn't shrink much.
About 0.25 in the waist, as someone said already about another pair of heavies (not 19 though)

Ordense how do you like the elephant's comfort-wise? Comparison to standard models or another brand as a reference point would be great.

comfort-wise i cannot compare the cut to anything else, as they are the tightest pair i own. The fabric is definitely ok, not scratchy at all, and it is very good, because being a very slim fit, a rough fabric would mean uncomfortable break-in period.

They're probably smoother than most denims i own, despite the hefty 19oz fabric. Don't worry about "skull or (some)samurai grade" roughness, the weft is nice and soft

The "rough exterior, soft inside" they advertise on the paper tag is not hype.

The only things i'm a bit concerned about, and only time will tell, are the cheapo looking rivets (but maybe they're as strong as others) and the quality of sewing thread, paramount on slim fitting thick jeans, as that's where all the mechanical stress will be

I read someone worrying about the exposed selvedge coin pocket, but it's folded over a couple of times, so it looks very strong and durable (now that i said that, it'll probably tear in a week)

Lastly, i think the chunky leather patch is absolutely, ridiculously oversized, and i cut it off after the soak.
Personally i find it ugly, with time and washes will potentially get warped and crap the back of the jeans (although it DIDN'T warp with this first hot 1.40hours soak), also it is sewn on with a flimsy thread (and only longitudinally, unlike the 24oz) and would have probably left a mark on my belt (either with the belt passing over or under it, due to the patch's thickness), so i chopped it off without regrets.

........., which is where i got them from, already ran out of sizes 30 and 31, hopefully some other shop will get them soon (tobi, maybe?)

hmm interesting. 24 oz are relatively easy to break in as well comfort wise, although they are extremely stiff - they were able to stand on their own as they were drying from a soak. I agree that there are some structural flaws. After three wears I notice the belt loops have scraps of denim hanging off of them and the leather patch, thick as it is, cracks immediately in water. But honestly, these things don't compromise the structure of the jeans, and at such a low price point, it's excusable. Especially considering the quality of the denim fabric. I know that they've fixed the terrible buttons on older models; maybe with more time these faults will be addressed as well.

lol nice.

that leather patch cracked and I asked Brandon about it.
says that it should because it's the kind of leather used on leather shoe outsoles!
i have coated it many times with oakwood leather conditioner (normally used for my saddleback brief) and its very nice now and smooth.

as Brandon probably assumed, the cracks are actually pretty cool and add character and my conditioner darken the patch to a very nice color, but over time I can see the patch absorbing indigo and going almost coffee colored.

You're going to be miserable in those.
