Naked and famous denim - Page 839

Well I would be really sizing down 2.5 as I am in between a 31-32. Comparing them to the measurements of APC NS which I own, it's essentially the same, save for the smaller hem which I am looking for.

Well, if measurements are the same then you aren't really downsizing, are you? Vanity sizing is something different than talking smaller sizes to account for stretch.

Theoretically you are downsizing when your waist is measured 31" and you take a pair of jeans that is atleast a "real" size smaller. Don't go by tagsize alone, measured a.k.a. real size is what counts.

I'm not sure if I am not explaining my situation correctly.

I normally wear a size 32 pants. I went with a 30 in APC NS (size down 2 as most people recommend). If I look at the measurements of the sz 30 NS vs 29 WG - the waist and rise are the same with a bit more room in the WG thigh and smaller through the knee and hem.

The waist on my NS stretched out an inch or so which made it perfect for my waist. My original question was if I could expect the waist on the WG to stretch about the same?

So I tried on some N&F for the first time today and was shocked at how different fabrics/colors of the same cut and size jeans fit so differently.
I was at a Barneys and tried the thermochromic weird guy size 34, I could barely button the first two buttons up (forget the top button, ever), my junk wouldn't fit in the top block and was relegated to squishing down alongside one of my thighs. Then I tried the same size 34 weird guy in a dark green fabric and it fit just fine. What gives and how do we know which color is what for online ordering?

I ordered the LH Twill in size 34 weird guy about a week ago and am wondering if it's going to be more like the former or the latter above?

You aren't sizing down three, because the WG starts out at 31" measured for a 29 tagsize. That is what I meant.

APC's stretch hella lot, I mean, real real much. You can't compare the stretch characteristics of both denims. Taking the the WG's in size 29 should be doable if all the other measurements work out for you. One inch of stretch in the waist is a piece of cake. Three down and thus three sizes stretch on the waistband would be impossible, but that is not the case here.

That's why I said... Vanity sizing is something different than actually taking three sizes smaller.

speaking of vanity sizing, i was looking at the measurements on blueowl for the super skinny okayama spirits, and they don't look like the usual vanity sizing from N&F at all. i had to get a 29 for my super skinny stretch selvedge and it appears that i would have to get a 31 for the okayamas.

Just noticed a lot of N&F's line on Amazon with prime shipping. Ordered up the blue oxford slim shirt. The one I bought from Kelvin many, many years ago needs replacing.

Really digging the heather grey skinny guy... Hmmm!

See my multi paragraph rant about buying online from 1-2 weeks ago. You can ask in a thread like this, but even then a number of factors can still alter what you end up getting. Generally, you need to resign yourself to avoiding final sales and choose your retailer carefully, considering their return policies, product selection, and whatever else is important to you.

Yeah I saw that. It's ok, I've never bought any jeans on final sale before.

Shopping for deals can be limiting but I got my Left Hand Twill for about $85 after the promo at *********, so it's also worth it sometimes! A few weeks ago I bought the dry deep indigo Hank Rey Nudies from Saks' website for $80 and was very happy with that when it came (though I took insurance by ordering two sizes and returning the one I didn't like at the store).

So I finally pulled the trigger on the Okayama Spirits.
It is somewhat strange that we haven't seen any fit pics in here. I think it's currently N&F best denim..

so i got the midnight power stretch today but I'm contemplating whether I should've sized down?  The fit right now is perfect, no space on the waist or thighs.  I can say that I actually like the current fit.

the elastane in the power stretch denim prevents it from stretching much/at all, so you should be good.

Thanks J Bailey!

agreed, by far the best denim N&F has made.  Actually they are my favorite denim in my rotation now.  I like the character/feel of the denim better than my momotaros or 3sixteens!

According to blueowl, the waist on the Okayamas are expected to shrink .5". I'm wondering if they would stretch back out eventually? I am about a 30.5" and am unsure between size 31 (30.5") and 32 (31.5").

Also, do the thighs and knees shrink significantly after a soak too?

Thanks for the advice!
