a) Weave - The Duck is a canvas which is a plain twill. Plain twills can be 1 warp by 1 weft (1x1) or 2 warps by 2 wefts (2x2). That's why you don't see a diagonal grain on the Ducks and why you do on the Chino's (or on any denim) which is a 3x1 weave.
b) Weight - Chinos are around 12oz. Ducks are around 10oz. (When we say "oz" we mean "ounces per square yard")
c) Color - Well this is obvious but the color isn't the same. Both are in that beige/brown family, but they are certainly different.

So how much stretch can we expect? I just wanted to be sure before I picked up a pair smile.gif tried on a 31 today and it fits great, but if it stretched more than 0.5 inches, then they would probably fall off. Any suggestions for sizing?

I was just thinking they used a pattern for girl's jeans. Explains the fact there's very little room for the junk too...  biggrin.gif

All: Gilt is having a sale on Naked and Famous at noon today, Monday.  You might want to get on it; typical Gilt sale pricing is 50% off MSRP, so I'm thinking a few of you might cop some cool pairs at 0.5 * (~200) ≈ $100, or even less.

Well that's disappointing. Guess we can skip over that. If all else is the same why would they lower the weight? Not really sure what they could do to it that'll redeem it.

Lht? Well the unbrandeds are already like that and are heavier
I guess it could be slubby if anything but I'm sure more people would've wanted it at 25oz

Attention all. Use this link: http://www.gilt.com/invite/159942956az76qpt9eq4   to join Gilt.com and access their N&F sale today. I think every pair is around $89 and they're going quickly I imagine so hop on it now! It would help me out a bunch if you do use the link I provided to join.

For Elephant3 N&F is going back to the same denim as Elephant1, but with a beige overcast. It's gonna look pretty badass and fade great. The weight will be the same as Elephant1 which is around 19.5oz. Please note that there is more than just actual weight that goes into the beauty and characteristics of any fabric.

If you want CRAZY heavy, there is always the 32oz denim which will be remade in June 2013.

If you like slubby and heavy, get ready for the 16.5oz "Okayama Spirit" denim coming out this Fall. It's gonna give you a denim boner. Possibly the most beautiful denim fabric N&F has ever used!

i thought there were problems with the elephant 1 fabric.  that they werent actually 19oz and weighed closer to the 17oz side?

i understand there is more than just weight but that is really what the elephant is about and a beige overcast hardly enough change to call it an elephant 3.  the change is so minimal that it seems like the change from an iphone 4 to 4s instead of 4 to 5, you know what i mean? maybe i just had higher expectations.

25oz seems like a good weight and im sure a lot of people will agree with me that the 32oz is over the top

I posted an alert in the official sales alert thread, and another member responded:

Anyone have any experience with that? I bought some N&F during the last gilt sale, but that is the only pair of quality denim I have. So I don't really have any grounds for comparison. If that's true, I have to say that sucks. I feel like it's a jungle out there.  Personally I like the pair I bought, except I should have gone weird over slim.

anyone know if there is any chance of the chinos being made in the skinny guy cut?
