What is your greatest strength weakness? - Page 2

This is for science, but I got good responses while doing some interview coaching for the following for greatest weakness. I said that my greatest weakness was keeping up on the literature, so I set up an RSS feed to bounce lit articles to my email based on keywords. Shows I can address weakness and use various skills to compensate.

My go-to response: I'm terrible with deadlines. Give me 8 weeks for a project and it'll all get done in week 8. In order to overcome this I set out rigorous micro-deadlines for all projects and stick to them like glue. As well as helping with deadlines it has also done wonders for my productivity!

Tell them you're too modest it's why you have to remind people all the time how essential to the company your great achivements really are..

Pick something that you can actually fix and then discuss how you are addressing it.

I joke a lot in interviews and when I get asked this question, I usually say "I know I'm supposed to respond with a silly cliche like "I care too much" or "I work too hard" [smirking with air quotes] and believe me, I do, but to be candid, my biggest weakness is probably...." Or, if the interview is going really well, I'll say something like "Gosh, it's pretty hard to narrow it down to just one, but....". I work in auditing/law/investigations/politics, so being able to differentiate yourself by showing you have a sense of humor seems to work, at least for me.

i too hate this question, like FLMM i try to bring some humor about it, and then just give an honest answer that isnt gonna ruin my chances. like, oh btw, im addicted to the heroin needle and crack pipe.

I say I'm a perfectionist as an example of both a strength and weakness in interviews as it's true...

Strength is I like to do things to a very high standard and work to the best of my ability; weakness is I could be wasting resources making something better than it needs to be for whatever the desired outcome is. Say you are aware of this tendency and are always sure to confirm deadlines and outcomes to counteract your perfectionist tendencies. Have an example of a something you've worked on demonstrating this to back it up. Like FLMM I try to (where I judge the panel will appreciate it) play this for laughs by stressing the cliche of the perfectionist example.

I interviewed for the program you are trying to do for the ful time position, you should know where you want to work or prefer to work.
