Where is your style going? - Page 49

1995-2005: dickies shorts, t-shirts, hoodies, skate shoes/chucks

2008-2009: Slim cut jeans + high top sneakers + t-shirts & hoodies

2010-current: chinos, OCBDs (well, not all OC), alden jumpers

2012-onwards: incorporating more MTM shirting, possibly some wool trousers will make an appearance, feel like I'm going back to how I wanted to dress in the 80s: combat boots (ultimate jumpers do fine here), dark palette trousers, dark palette floral buttondowns... very coldwave/deathrock. Once I get my ToJ back from being painted on, it'll be pretty damned close, although it'd be more "accurate" if it was a DR instead of a Moto... I imagine if I head to the UK next year I'll have to swing by Nick Cave's tailor and get a bespoke suit...

I'll have to get my mohawk trimmed back for the new wave hair, though.

Well first of all you used to mention the appeal of cheap(er) clothing and how you didn't know where your style was going so I knew it would change. Secondly everyone gets tired of the same shit over and over again so the florals, leopards etc was only a matter of time you grew bored of the constricting redundancy. You were younger then too so I knew the fickleness would subside and you'd settle into a more (you) mature style which would involve more plain things but with more interesting designs (less emphasis on sex and more cerebral ie. the switch the round toe shoes). Also, progression from cheap shit to nice shit.

That and I didn't expect to see you in an ocbd, duck pants and red wings.

Pretty astute analysis, actually. In retrospect I'd say everything is dead-on redface.gif

1. Def digging the new minimalist Brad

2. Come on now, you can't possibly write about your style evolution without including that leopard-print suit you posted years and years ago. That was classic!

I agree. I like the new Brad "lite" better than the former Brad with all the Roberto Cavalli/ Dolce & Gabana thing going on that looks like something Snooky would wear.

As for me, as a result of my progressing weight loss, I feel like I am producing more testosterone. I mean like I haven't felt like more of a man than I ever felt before. So my style is changing from less fashiony to a more matcho, more butch me. I went to Abercrombie & Fitch last week to purchase Fierce the fragrance and I remember the last time I bought something from there was when I used to buy those Bruce Weber produced catalogs. Their jeans are nice but they don't fit me yet so my new motivation to continue my weight loss is to fit iin an Abercrombie jeans. I bought a baseball cap. Never worn one before and now I look like I'm attending high school " go Devils" so yeah thats where my style is going right now.

In some alternate universe, this exists.

Abercrombie is making a resurgence. Next thing you know they will start dong collabs like Alber for Abercrombie, Nigel Cabourn for Abercrombie.

^^Lol.

I'm interested to know what happens to old stuff when we take an aesthetic change though. Brad's old clothes don't seem like it can be flipped on B&S easily and i'm sure it's quite a substantial amount of stuff.

It was snakeskin, and believe it or not, it was not even a year ago.

@jerome: I took a huge loss on everything. redface.gif

Mr Eddie! (nick cave's tailor, or one of them, at least). Ask for Ron, the Jamaican guy, he's awesome.
