For those who are not familiar, that's $1699 USD for one fancy Pink Floyd LP in a box.

Damn, that's worse than Africa Bambaataa's Death Mix which was going for over $1000 USD back in 2001. Thank digital, otherwise access to some of these would be nigh impossible to most.

I have Delta 2 HCDT monoblocks and they are fantastic. I encourage separates but the Passion series integrated is well regarded. Note that if you use balanced cables, not all YBAs come with balanced outputs. I also like Gamut amps.
I am following your advice and... I got myself a little YBA int. amp from Audio Refinement collection for cheap and will audition it when it arrives. Unfortunately finding an opportunity to audition different speakers/amps is difficult due to many of them being pretty rare. The only way I can try something is by buying it and then re-selling it. P.S. Most prised records on the internet:http://www.livejournal.ru/music/themes/id/8641

I am looking for something cristal clear and natural/neutral. I cannot stand soft or laid back sound or any softness in mid high range.
All I see on forums are Krell this and Musical Fidelity that with YBA to add.

Are these me-too brands ? I would not mind hunting down something esoteric and little known if it gets me the sound I like.

Naim and Primaire are good brands. I'm less impressed by Cyrus even though I know the local importer. Fortunately he carries Wilson Benesch.

Just find a good local dealer, and there should be plenty in Boston. Take home a few amps for a weekend or two, and decide which one you like. Trying to get certain brands is fine, but don't be attached to them as most brands you will find locally, especially in a city like Boston, will be very good already.

It will be far more informative than getting opinions from a bunch of random Internet people who may be LOLcats in real life.

You're one of the very first to hear it in the States since Cyrus just got a distributer.

I agree with Andre, you should go to a good dealer and tell him your sonic requirements.

The Wilson Benesch importer/dealer in Atlanta demoed the gear for the Atlanta Audio Society over a year ago.

So this is a request to the audiophiles here. I'm getting a new computer with a high-end sound card. This is for my bedroom, so I'm thinking of just going the basic speaker route. Any suggestions?

Any reason why I should consider running a my sound through a receiver and assembling home theater speakers?

Will you be listening to 5.1-channel music, or just two-channel? For two-channel, get a pair of self-powered monitors, like the NHT M-00. For 5.1, if your computer will be decoding the soundtracks, and your soundcard has 5.1 outputs, then self-powered monitors again. But if you're going to be outputing digital from S/PDIF, then a receiver.

Outputing digital may have an advantage in that the digital-to-analog conversion will be done outside of the computer, which is electrically noisy, but if may not matter, depending on how picky you are. Disadvantage is that you have more boxes on your desk.

Thanks Andre. I'd be lying if I didn't say most of that went right over my head. My sound card will be The Auzen X-FIâ„¢ Prelude 7.1. My understanding was that it was a high end card. I think it would be easier to go w/ the self powered monitors, probably 5.1, though via the card name it appears to support 7.1.

Now that you know more info, will that help tailor your advice?

According to Barry Diament, a great mastering engineer who did a lot of the albums for Atlantic Records, the best setup is a Mac with Metric Halo converters.

AF, thanks for the input.

However, I fail to see how this is relevant to my question. I'm not looking to record any music.
