My current setup, mainly home theater use:

Ascend Acoustics (CMT-340 front, center, HTM-200 surrounds)
Hsu VTF-2 mk2 Subwoofer
Yamaha RXV-1400 receiver
Sony 400 disc CD/DVD/SACD changer/transport
Quality inexpensive interconnects and speaker cables.

Future interests (once little fingers stop trying to poke holes in daddy's speakers)

Von Schweikert or Sonus Faber full range speakers,
Reasonably priced amplifier (Rotel, Outlaw monoblocs,etc..)

This is a pretty awesome setup for the money.

If only those ascend speakers weren't so boring/ugly-looking.

There is an upside to the boring/ugly finish: Fingeprints, playdoh and crayons barely show.

Love them too, but for the lack of bass. Have you modded yours in any way? I want the Mye stands but the damn weak dollar makes them prohibitively expensive.

I previously had them bi-wired using HT Pro 9+ but did not hear any discernible difference.in sound quality.

3.yes, although it depends on the disc how they use it.

there's a big diff between bi-wiring and bi-amping. Bi-amping can be benefitial while bi-wiring is pointless.

I agree with what GQgeek writes for your other questions. For this one, DVD-A and SACD are really 6 full-range channels, though most releases use them as 5.1.

If you want to get 7 channels, DPLIIx and Logic 7 can expand 5.1 into 7.1.
