I just hooked up an old Sony Pro-Walkman to my stereo and have been playing recordings off the radio of some jazz and blues stuff back when I was in University, ooh 25 years ago.
Here in TO we have a jazz station that broadcasts live-to-air concerts from their Long & McQuade Performance Hall. I am in Parkdale with a quality 300B SET based sound system, with a rooftop MD ST-2 antennae with a direct line-of-sight to their CN Tower transmitter (signal is strong with little compression).
I was blown away by the sound quality of their live-to-air broadcasts, and have decided to tape them. I considered 15 IPS RTR, but instead went for a quality cassette recorder...a Revox B215. I haven't set this up yet, but hopefully I will be in business soon.
I purchased a sealed box of Maxell XL II 90 of blank tapes to make the recordings on. I do not have any experience regarding blank tapes....anybody have any suggestions as to which tapes offer the best recording quality for these FM broadcasts?
