What stereo(s) do you listen to? What do you want? - Page 159

Does anyone still listen to tapes? smile.gif

I just hooked up an old Sony Pro-Walkman to my stereo and have been playing recordings off the radio of some jazz and blues stuff back when I was in University, ooh 25 years ago.

I realize that this may not be the appropriate thread, but after using the SF search function, I didn't really find anything that matched.

Have any of you played around with those "jailbroken" xbmc tv boxes? Just wondering if they live up to the hype.

Most of my friends are big into XBMC. I'm just starting to play around with it, but with new (at least to me) live stream add ons, I'm probably a month away from cancelling my cable completely.

Would you mind going into specifics with what you are able to stream?

But the best system I've ever heard is all TAD. Nothing even comes close.

The TAD demos at RMAF are superb. And better yet designer Andrew Jones has designed some amazing budget speakers for Pioneer.

My arch-nemesis and frenemy Artisan Fan must first return in order to balance out the Audiophile Force. (And yes, the Audiophile Force runs balanced.)

I'm back. Needed some clothing ideas. icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif

For personal listening, I am a sucker for tivoli (or if it's at work, grado headphones).

I got an A/V question. for my home theater I have Polk RTi12's all around and whatever the matching center channel is. It is nothing really fancy but they are decent speakers. I've blown out two mid-tier onkyo receivers with these speakers. Any recommendations on mid-tier receivers that can power these for movies and still have inputs like optical and stereo (and I feel dumb saying this but did all receivers dump the whole zone B concept? I really liked that for my patio).... Sorry, its been years since I've followed the A/V scene and I feel lost.

Here in TO we have a jazz station that broadcasts live-to-air concerts from their Long & McQuade Performance Hall. I am in Parkdale with a quality 300B SET based sound system, with a rooftop MD ST-2 antennae with a direct line-of-sight to their CN Tower transmitter (signal is strong with little compression).

I was blown away by the sound quality of their live-to-air broadcasts, and have decided to tape them. I considered 15 IPS RTR, but instead went for a quality cassette recorder...a Revox B215. I haven't set this up yet, but hopefully I will be in business soon.

I purchased a sealed box of Maxell XL II 90 of blank tapes to make the recordings on. I do not have any experience regarding blank tapes....anybody have any suggestions as to which tapes offer the best recording quality for these FM broadcasts?
