Is it intermittent? Like when you jiggle the cable is sounds correct? I'm wondering if its not the cable. Did the tech diagnose the problem?

I'd like an inexpensive AirPlay speaker.

Which end of the cable do you have to fiddle with? If it's the plug side, you could just cut it off, and solder on a new plug, assuming the problem is inside the plug somewhere.

And are you using the bigger 1/4-inch plug or the smaller 1/8-inch plug? I noticed that it comes with an adapter for the 1/4-inch plug. If you're really lucky, maybe the adapter is the only thing that needs to replaced.

No tech diagnosed it. I just called up AT and they told me that was probably the issue. It always fucked but if I mess around with it I can get the sound ok for about 30 seconds. And that's only 5% of the time.

Smaller 1/8". I suppose I could but that would mean soldering and I don't have a gun, or particularly good skills.

Well, I have no clue how he can know what's wrong. Sounds like a best guess. Did he guarantee a fix for that $? If so, I'd take it. Otherwise, that could really be anything from a loose solder, damaged driver or cable. Chances of you fixing it successfully just went down like 70%.

I didn't end up getting the verity speakers. I am not looking to go too crazy with the budget. I will most likely be purchasing an NAD t777 receiver to power the speakers. I am looking into PSB and B&W in wall speakers as an option for the rear and surround speakers. To give you an example my Den has an NAD receiver with martin logan fresco speakers, and my bedroom has a sim audio integrated amp with Dynaudio speakers. Any recommendations for the theater room would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Yeah, it was. I suspect its the cable as well. No guarantee on the price, which is why I was asking. I bought a new pair of headphones already but I don't like them as much as the A500's.

No, I think the AirPlay premium is just too high now. A Bluetooth shit speaker is like 70 bucks. Same shit speaker with AirPlay capabilities is like 400. Sticking a little wifi NIC with some firmware on there shouldn't be that much more.

Disagree with what, specifically? I'm hoping you disagree because the mythic $150 dollar AirPlay speaker is out there, and I just keep overlooking it?
