Which end of the cable do you have to fiddle with? If it's the plug side, you could just cut it off, and solder on a new plug, assuming the problem is inside the plug somewhere.
And are you using the bigger 1/4-inch plug or the smaller 1/8-inch plug? I noticed that it comes with an adapter for the 1/4-inch plug. If you're really lucky, maybe the adapter is the only thing that needs to replaced.

Smaller 1/8". I suppose I could but that would mean soldering and I don't have a gun, or particularly good skills.

I am looking into PSB and B&W in wall speakers as an option for the rear and surround speakers.
