I've oogled your coat everytime I've seen it hanging in the shop...looks great, and its a great weight for a sportcoat in the winter.

That's the plan. Seems very old school.
Only 2.5 meters were left so no overcoat. That wouldn't really be my style though in this fabric. I do however really like the fabric in this barleycorn overcoat from Alden. I think he said it was an old vintage fabric.

I've noticed some jackets being made out of that fabric with the "apex" of the barleycorn pointing up while other with it pointing down, is this a matter of personal choice or does this particular fabric have a "correct" direction?

Hey, can any forum members give me some suggestions where to get Smith woolen's fabric in UK, either online or shops. I am very interested in their Finmeresco range, Any other suggestion for similar cloth are welcome, I am just very bored with Minnis 2-ply fresco and want to try something else.

I believed the range consist of 3 ply 12-13oz and 4 ply 15oz?

If price can be controlled at around £150-180 per 4 meters, I am looking to get 3 batches, light grey, french blue and tobacco/brown.

I made the coat with the apex pointing down for these reasons:

1) Frank felt a nap to the cloth and thought that the intended direction was for the apex to point down.

2) I contacted the weaver and he said that it was indeed woven with the apex pointed down so to better resemble barleycorn. The weaver also said that the coat could be made in either direction.

3) Manton thought the correct direction was for the apex to point down.
