Probably Barberis

Would anyone be interested in going in on an order for madras shirtings from this company? They require a 30-40 yard minimum (it can be mix and match, doesn't have to be 30-40 yards of the same fabric), and I only need 4-6. (Use the link menu at the left to see all the fabrics)

The quality here is kind of crappy, to be honest, but the price cheap. From memory, I think it's something like $5 a yard. But they have a wide selection, and I think some would make for fun summer shirts.

FWIW, I've found much better madras through Rosen & Chadick in NYC, but they're more expensive at ~$20-25 a yard, and their stock is both limited and fluctuating. Sometimes they have nice patterns in, sometimes not.

I'm interested - do you have any patterns in mind? I'd love to have a couple of bleeding madras shirts made up.
I don't know if they bleed, but I can ask. I bought some last year, but just got them made into shirts and they've yet to arrive.

Again, the quality of the fabric itself is kind of low, so just adjust your expectations. These are the kind of fabrics you'd see in common fabric shops in India, and they're woven there as well.

We don't need to get the same fabrics. It can be mix and match. I suspect I'll only want to get 4-6 yards, but if you give me an idea of how much you want, we can see if we can round up enough orders.

I can get exact prices once people give me their orders, but expect ~$5/ yard, and then something for shipping, and then probably something for shipping for me to send it from me to you. I'll obviously only charge what I'm charged.

I'm interested in the Madras fabrics as well. I looked into it at some point and they do have bleeding madras fabrics (or at least they did at the time). I'd be interested in maybe 4-6 yards.

I would be interested as well, but I was not here when the first order went through. Can someone post some images of the tobacco/brown/slewfoot fabric you are speaking of? In addition is it a linen or a wool fresco?

Thanks,

Derek,

I would be interested as well. I reached out to this company about 4-5 months back in the spring and at the time they were sold out of the bleeding madras, but were expecting more in. I would be in for 5+ yards as well.

It's wool. It's made by Minnis (hence "Fresco"). Here's a picture:

Thank you, it reminds me more of a maduro than a Connecticut shade. Nice!

For those of you who want that donkey flannel, Delfino has an absolutely spectacular one in their Derby Flannel book (very reasonably priced as well). See badsha's group buy in the B&S section.

Anybody have photos of it? Is this woolen or worsted flannel? I'd prefer woolen if I can find it.

Yup, that's the one but badsha doesn't have pics of the Derby Flannel up yet. I'll try and snap a pic tomorrow.

The site you link to does offer some bleeding patterns, although when I last got in touch they were down to one and waiting for restocking. If a group order accelerated that process, it would be all to the good.

The 350 gram version is the one! Thanks, badsha.
