Any thoughts on this as a suit?
They have a slightly darker gray which is I think better suited for a suit.

I ordered both samples to make a decision. Here's a current one about to be finished.

That's not the one. The one I;m referring to is just a plain mid-gray glen check with no blue overcheck i.e. like the original fabric you posted, except a bit darker.

Got it - very helpful; thanks!

What do you guys think of these for sport coats. I like the large glen check Breanish so much I find myself wanting a warm weather version:

I lean toward the one on the left, then the right one.

Any other suggestions for patterned summer sport coats would be much appreciated.

The one on the left is the best of the bunch but I would prefer something with more color.

+1. None of the three are all that inspiring.

I always find lightweight patterned summer coat fabrics lack depth, especially if it is a worsted or finished smooth. Some patterned linens have very nice surface interest. Perhaps you can source some to compare. I have seen some Italian ones but don't know who made them.

H&S's Notting Hill has similar patterns but, in my opinion, a bit more interesting than those. Thanks to JPHardy for taking the pics and putting these up on smugmug

I think that Huddersfield cloth was on sale for GBP 20 per metre recently as one of their cloth offers (or "cloffers", as Huddersfield calls them). It would be worthwhile getting in touch with Huddersfield to ask if it's still on sale, if you're interested in it.

Thanks guys. These have some surface interest. They're wool/silk/linen blends.

Are you really recommending a British fabric over an Italian one? What is the world coming to? JK. Thanks, Ed. Those are nice. I think I've seen those before. Phat Guido had a really nice patterned summer sport coat: dark beige w/ off-white and blue checks. If anyone can find a pic of that, it'd be helpful. I think medtech had something similar made up by NSM. Found medtech's:

Brisbane Moss 'oatmeal' linen suit fresh off the press.

Trying to stand up straight and not totally succeeding after getting home at 4:30am from an awesome wedding.
