Have you looked at molloy and sons donegals? They look spectacular, definitely worth a look

If I do get only a coat made up -- in this instance, would this blue (34581), be better? Or the brown like unbelragazzo suggested?

This is a picture taken under harsh light so all the speckles are showing very prominently. It's not as wild under normal lighting conditions ...

What's the name of the donegal that the two swatches are sitting on?

Picked up my 20oz. blue donegal Molloy coat in Dec, and it has quickly become my fall/winter favorite

Wow was just thinking about buying a length of that exact one, what trousers can you pair that with besides light grey?

All my wool odd trousers are light/mid-grey, so that simplifies the decision for me. Regardless, I don't think khaki or brown trousers would look good with that donegal.

I know Dugdale gets quite a bit of love here. How is the Super 100s book specifically?

It's very good, and by far their best light/midweight offering.

FWIW, not all the Dugdale stuff is top-notch (the lightweights and the new slicker books leave much to be desired). Super 100s, Mohair, and English Classics are their three best offerings, and are broadly comparable to stuff from the big names.

I've heard that their new Magdale tweeds are made by Johnstons - and, if so, I presume they are excellent as well. I have yet to examine the cloth for myself though.

I always thought of dugdale as a heavyweight specialist.

The majority of their stuff these days is sub-11oz. And much of that is unremarkable.
