I'd say it looks more like jacketing than suiting. I'd do it. Peak lapel, even.

^^ I agree, it would look nice as a sport coat with hip patch pockets. Not sure how durable that fabric is though.

If the windowpane is too bold, for my taste it will be too heavy as a suit however I can see that will work as an odd jacket with charcoal, dark or medium gray trousers.

Slewfoot...just send a buzz to HE Box...they sent me out a sample of this exact cloth a few years ago

I thought it was Melton wool...but instead was Cavalry Twill (I was looking for a warm cloth for a bespoke Navy Peacoat)

I found this Cavalry twill cloth to be too rough for what I desired...and too dark
