How about Harrison's? IIRC Lesser has a 11 oz flannel in their new Golden Bale book.

Fox is great stuff. Have you looked at the London Lounge flannel offerings? Price is steep (100 GBP/m), but it's proper 17oz stuff you would have a hard time finding elsewhere. Otherwise, Gorina seems to produce solid stuff as well.

I have the Fox mid-grey and it is beautiful. Be forewarned that at 11oz. its a bit fragile.

Thanks - do you have any pics made up? And the 10/11oz weight was something that I was a bit worried about.

I don't need 17oz but 12/13oz would be ideal.

Harrison also has nice flannel.

Fox is pretty but be warned it's not that substantial. The truly rough&tumble stuff is Minnis.

Fox has a ton of 13/14oz stuff in lambswool, maybe that is why people say that it is "fragile" but I love the feel and finish much more than Minnis. They also have 19/20oz stuff that I could never imagine wearing as a suit unless I was doing business in Siberia.

Harrisons is nice but again, for feel and finish I much prefer Fox.

Feel and finish of fox is indeed much nicer but for longevity, Minnis is superior. Honestly the scratchiness of minnis does not bother me, my skin is only exposed to it below the knee and I never notice.

Yes, I do and will throw up some pics tonight. Edmorel: I'm aware of the lamsbwool content, and Fox isn't the only mill to use lambswool in a flannel. I only speak to the fragility after having worn the suit over the past year. The cloth doesn't take a beating. Not even a scuffle.

have you had fox flannel not hold up well? One that is rarely if ever mentioned here is Holland and Sherry's Viceroy flannel, which I find even prettier and fancier than Fox and I absolutely love. Minnis I am no longer a fan of.

which brings me to a question, not necessarily directed at you but feel free. For the person that has enough suits where you aren't wearing one more than 3-4 times a season, do you or should you care about longevity?

FWIW, when I got a flannel suit from Solito he had swatches of Fox and of Drapers, the latter being (I believe) Italian made. He was really down on the Fox and steered me to the Draper's. That could have been patriotism but I will say that the suit has performed well, it's about 11-12 or so.

I have had fox bag and pill quite early. It needs to be pressed a lot, as well, if you care about looking reasonably "together."

RE: longevity, I never think that way. I want all my suits to be around forever which is why I have never had any interest in "luxury" fabrics". PLus, I just like the way the hard stuff wears better.

RE: H&S, I have one of those and the reason I bought it was because I really liked the color and pattern, it was better than all the similar ones I looked at. The quality is sub-par, though.

Manton, did you have the same lighterweight stuff that ET had issues with?

What weight is the H&S and in what way do you find it subpar?

I'll let you guys know how the 13/14oz stuff holds up next year.

I think I once described Minnis as being the Camila Parker Bowles of fabrics.
