Good lord Edmorel, you have more cloth than I do!

Just a quick question, as there seems to be a lot of cloth knowledge here.

I'm looking for a cloth to make into a summer SC. Blue - not midnight, not a real dark navy, but nothing too light either; think more of an Italian type summer blue - with a strong white windowpane check, in a nice summer weight.

What books or even specific cloths should I be looking into? Thanks.

This would depend on what books you have access to and what sort of fabric characteristics you are looking at. A simple color and design is insufficient to do a good narrowing.

Well, I'm sure I can manage any books if need be. Anything from the fairly known merchants (H&S, Dormeui etc.l) would be easier, of course. British fabrics and merchants are easiest.

As far as the fabric characteristics: it's going to be a summer coat. Anything that works for summer would be fine. That's really the only characteristic I'm interested in. I've seen similar fabrics in winter weights and darker colours, but I've yet to see the right hue of blue with a bold white windowpane in a summer weight. It's always either too dark or the windowpane is too faint. I'm sure the right cloth exists, I've just never run into it.

Try the Harrisons line up of Mystique, Cape Kid, Havana, etc. There may be something in there.

I like it: it's subtle, but interesting. Would like to see a picture of it in sunny weather.

You almost never see linen in anything but solids-- this is a nice idea.

Great pattern matching on the breast pocket. CMT or is this one of Ercole's house fabrics?
