The trousering seems to be a rather dark grey, then you'll not get much love around here...
Seriously, I'd prefer light grey for the trousers or mid grey if you must.

I totally agree. I have decided to swap this (0302) with 0301. Perhaps will purchase extra length so that I can commission a db suit.

I am also thinking about commissioning an overcoat in tweed. Would like some recommendations for a fairly smooth but durable tweed fabric.

Thanks

What do you think of this combo? The above is john hardy lambswool 13oz and below is minnis flannel 14oz.

Also considering a dark pair of jeans with the jacket for more casual occasions.

Which pattern of the Hardy lambswool is that? Would you mind posting a larger pic with the fabric spread out? I would like to get a better idea of what it looks like.

Isn't slick tweed an oxymoron?

I think that Tonik is a fleck weave, not a Donegal which is a Tweed not a worsted.

I don't ever recall seeing one in the old Tonik book. Shot and patterned, but not fleck.

If I remember I'll ask my tailor about them.

Of course they're not donegal yarns but the flecking is (and rightly so, IMO) much more associated with tweed.

I don't think it works here.

I've seen several flecked suitings over the years, mostly100% wool. I have seen it done with silk also.

A flecked Mohair isn't my cup of tea either, but I can see the attraction for some.

Looks good. The jacket will also go well with olive or cinnamon corduroy, navy moleskin, or medium grey or khaki whipcord.

Just purchased the Henry Poole house check in mid-grey with a burgundy overcheck that I hope to turn into a three-piece number soon ... when I have the made up the rest of my unfunded liabilities. :bored:

Interestingly, I've not made up a business suit in a check quite this prominent. Have a self-check from the Lesser 11/12 oz and I liked the subtle visual interest.
