I'm on the same page with both of you. I really don't comprehend the resistance. It's one heckova nice cloth for an odd jacket.

The best thing about this cloth is that it will allow ready inferences by strangers about the wearer's family, personal relationships, finances, genetics, emotional state, scholastic accomplishments, susceptibilty to psychic powers, and intelligence...and also preferred flavors of ice cream and Netflix habits.

In other words: a perfect mafoofan fabric.

Anything Mafoo can't wear with one of his Mafooblue(™) shirts does not go with everything. As I said, though, I'm colorblind, and consider purple the devil. As such, I would not buy a coat with a purple overcheck, but YMMV. Really, I'm not trying to weigh in on the cloth so much as share my thoughts on how it will fit with Mafoo's wardrobe/personal philosophy. He knows that better than I do, of course. It's just stuff he might want to think about before committing to the project. I do think certain people would be eager to look down on a discount store purchase with a purple pinstripe or overcheck.

I know Mafoo said he can't picture it, but I'm pretty sure a blue shirt will go with a brown tweed jacket. I think he was confused and thought of his brown jacket was a blue or purple jacket. If he starts thinking of it as a brown jacket, he will be fine.

I have enough color vision and OCD to say I don't think I'd wear that purple overcheck, as it appears on my monitor, with a blue shirt. Of course, I'm mighty picky about my color correlations.

Really? The first thing that comes to mind is a blue end on end or oxford with that fabric.

On my monitor -- and through my eyeballs -- it looks really purple. What ties would you wear with that pairing? Maybe I just need to visualize it better. It's this type of thing, though, that I thought Mafoo was trying to avoid.

I agree, it seems like foo blue would be fine with that cloth. It's not something I would have chosen, but I do like it, and don't think the colors make it look crazy.
