I like it except for the use of black shoes - I don't think it looks bad though. Also, why is the Prada tag still on the overcoat?

Id have to agree, such a nice outfit for a great pair of brown shoes, be it calf or suede. I suppose the black shoes look ok, but brown would be my first choice.

I really like the shirt and the overcoat, I'm not so crazy about the suit (at least with that particular shirt). I agree with the other posters that it would look better with brown shoes, maybe something in suede.

Also, why is the Prada tag still on the overcoat?

Looks like a pretty nice combination. It's especially nice to see something other than the ubiquitous black wool overcoat.

I'm going to surprise myself and say I like it. I am usually not a huge fan of black shoes, but I think given how much brown there is in this outfit, and since the stripe in the suit and the shirt (as well as the material of the suit) make for a sleeker look, I think the black works. A great black crocodile belt with gold buckle would complete the look. The black accents will really stand out against the brown, so the quality of the belt and shoes is paramount.

I have to agree with Montechristo, I am not offended by the black shoes. I myself would wear not quite dark brown shoes with the outfit but I wouldn't necessarily look down on a chap who went with black shoes.

Brown preferred, black is acceptable.

I don't know about that suit though, but then again I am a political conservative.

i like each independent piece but not together..too much brown for me..also don't like striped shirt with striped suit..having said all that, it's certainly more interesting than all the black or gray monotone outfits one sees today..black shoes make a little statement..on the right person this outfit will look great

I personally don't like black shoes with brown -- I'd prefer cordovan or maybe some shade of tan... I do hope that you plan to remove the label from that coat though. I would have thought it ridiculous to assume otherwise, except that I have actually seen people leave the labels on their overcoats (and suits.), presumably because they're trying to impress someone with the 'status' label. I can't think of any greater sartorial vulgarity or any more damning commentary on our status-conscious consumerist society. I say, better to wear a simple well-fitting $300 overcoat than to leave the tag on a $1500 luxury model. But I guess I'm just a snob that way.

It's terrific, shoes and all. Brown shoes would turn the ensemble to mud, in my view.

I just give the wearer the benefit of the doubt and assume that they are, in fact, gay clubbers. The label left on was a popular practice with gay vogue dancers who made it a practice to buy really expensive labels, going vogueing in them, and then returning the clothes (NWT.) the next day.

Bemoaning the living language now? Maybe you like the French system, where a committee convocates periodically to deliberate on what is allowed, and what is not allowed, in the French language.

I like the black shoes. I think brown shoes would make the outfit appear stangely monochrome instead of striking.
