Hi,

I am the typical sneaker guy, and I feel like I need to invest in a pair of boots.

I have no idea where to start, i tried browsing forums, but didn't find what I was looking for.

I am going for boots worn worn by the model of the spring 2007 collection of nice collective (far left)

Something that can be worn casually, and will last.

Thanks

I propose that the next person to post this exact topic be summarily stabbed to death without warning of any kind.

I would say it's more like You can't go right with brands like Timberland and Perry Ellis. Short of one pair of chelseas timberland makes, I've never seen a boot from them that looked good.

its hard to find boots for a decent price with non-rubber soles

It's too bad those Aldos are supposed to be crap- they look kind of cool. They've got a bit of a vintage look to them. I don't know what you'd call that general style, but you might poke around on Redwing and see if they have anything similar.

You'll get a lot of recommendations for Alden Indies and a similar Red Wing here a lot, which is OK (I have a pair of Indies that I love), but not the style it seems you're looking for. I like that those Aldos, for instance, are a bit different than what you see here all the time.

I think rubber soles are great on the right boot- it's just a matter of aesthetics. For a pair of serious hiking boots, rubber is the only way to go. Certain vintage styles don't look right with rubber, though.

A good start when looking for recommendation would be to tell us what you want to spend.

Redwing, Alden, Carpe Diem....

Ebay and forums do. There is usually a pair for sale on SZ, never my size though. =(
