Ebay Experiences - Seller ratings - Page 4

I am surprised the Ebay seller Chicago*Classic*Clothier has not been mentioned here before. I have not personally bought anything from this seller but am AMAZED that they have 100% positive feedback. If you look at their descriptions, so many of them are wild exaggerations. For instance, they refer to the Paul Stuart suits made in Canada as "completely custom made" and the off the peg Alan Flusser suits as "Bespoke". Ebay store Chicago*Classic*Clothier

WARNING - DO NOT BUY FROM THIS SELLER. Well one not too good of an experience here with trulyadeal - bought a Canali jacket that was listed as a 42L with measurements in the auction that were for a chest size of 46" (sounds good so far).  Unfortunately it actually measures out at a 38L as the chest is only 42" - you'd think the tag inside that they failed to mention that had it listed as a 50 Euro would have been a clue - shame on me for not asking the right question and shame on them for not measuring accurately.   They also described the jacket as "excellent like new condition" which would have been true save the stain on the elbow, some small dark spots on the front and back and the small piece of who knows what sticking out of the shoulder.   Refuses to refund my money. WARNING - DO NOT BUY FROM THIS SELLER.

Was just on ebay and seemed to be a load of Hermes ties from Hong Kong and China. IMO - less than 5% chance they are real.

You're right that they're fake. Prices now on the Hermes website have increased-$145 for a silk twill. Never thought about Ebay for Hermes ties before the increase, but this may change.

I bought a couple of ties from Blueberry Boutique. They ship quickly, and even sent a little chocolate. How very nice. Got a real nice Gucci tie for like $40. Also bought one of their Diego whatever line, their own custom line, it's a pretty nice tie, worth the $30 I paid for it. Bought a shirt and 7-fold tie from Carlo Franco (sartorial solutions). He is in the process of shipping that to me, so I can't speak to the quality yet, but he was very quick to respond, and sent me a bunch of cool info on his new trousers. Excellent customer service, very friendly, AND he is a member of this forum. Bought a pair of Mezlan oxfords from grapevinehill for about $100. Their service was excellent, the shoes are nice, but Rider tells me Mezlans are garbage, so I bought a pair of Marteganis from him and don't plan on buying any additional Mezlans in the future. I believe grapevinehill also sellls A/E. I would highly recommend them. Great service, quick shipping, good product. Bought a suit from style_wizard. It was decent, a super 130's off brand, fits me very well, and is pretty good quality. Their service was good, everything was legit. Paid about $300 for the suit, it is worth the price I'd say.

Mezlans are garbage is salesman/snob talk. They aren't all that bad. I have a suede pair that's 3 years old and still lovely.

--Hi members, I've been a forum watcher for a while, decided to join the fun. This is my first post.-- >>Avoid member145782. Won my bids for a Canali dress shirt and a Hugo Boss suit from "member145782." Had been out of town for a while and could not take care of business, so called the number that was listed along with the address to send a check to... I called the number, and a lady picked up. She told me that numerous people have called the number, asking for their merchandise, and claimed that she knew nothing of anyone around who were selling things on ebay. Apparently she'd been plagued with these calls. I told her she should report "Vladimir" to ebay.

Not a bad (nor good) experience, actually, but just something funny. Take a look at this auction: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws....32&rd=1 Notice the length given for the overcoat? Only the sleeves seem right. I wonder what size the person wearing it is... Of course, it could be that the measurements given are in centimetres (1 inch = 2.54 centimetres), in which case it will be more-or-less correct. Anyway, here's an auction for a mink coat: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws....97&rd=1 It says there the coat is retailed for $12000. Is it really worth that much? Thanks. WJTW

Another fake? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws....14&rd=1
It must be from the Zegna factory outlet store in China. Seriously though, they don't even include up-close pictures of the tag. But from what I can make out, it looks all wrong.

A large sized full-length mink coat from NM? Yep, I could believe it retailed for $12,000.

Has anybody had experience with blondys_bay_auctions? I bought a bunch of stuff and was looking through his profile but seems like he's gotten a few negative comments...

There are quite a few Brioni ties from this season from sellers in Lebanon. It sounds fishy, but they look legit. I've purchased 2 -- from Label Deal and High Class Boutique. Both were sumptous ties -- very high quality ties, and had the little gold chain tie keeper with the Brioni nameplate. Another thing is they have reasonable price points, i.e. starting out at $40 or so. A designer tie at $9.99 sends off alarms everwhere.

I bought a coat represented as "Cashmere" Ballantyne from alistair_wright . It turns out it's 85% wool and 15% cashmere. Very soft wool, of course, but not why I bought it. I've contacted the seller and let him know my displeasure.
