I doubt this girl can bench 280...

but she can sure deadlift 280!

First of all, why are you backing up the "pull is too light for you bench" argument when you just said you only pulled 40 more pounds than bench for reps? If they were that easy, why didn't you add weight?

Second of all, that girl is wearing a belt and locking out with her lumbar instead of her hips. I don't even know for sure if that would have been accepted in competition.

So, what I'm hearing is size is more important than strength. That's unfortunate.

I did my 1RM on deadlift about a month ago. I was 165 and the weight was 367.5. Haven't done squat in 6 months, bench in over a year.

I'm always skeptical when hearing second hand about maxes, though. Unless they're on record from a meet, you have no way of knowing if the guy had his arse on the bench and bar to the chest for bench; hip crease below knee crease for squat; and full extension and lockout for pulls. I've never competed, so I don't even know for sure that I'm doing this stuff right.

And this is coming from the guy who said:

Not insecure, per se, but I'm always jealous of his arms.

See, context is everything.

Seriously, I wouldn't equate the big 3's 1RMs with "strength". It is a measure of strength, I guess, but an inadequate one at that and doesn't have much application outside the gym culture/online BB message board bubble. Most importantly, it is not easy to fit measuring 1RM into a day's workout, compared to 3RM or 5RM. You almost always have to go out of the way to get this number (and often just to boost ego...)

Same here.

I dunno I like to test them every 8 weeks or for shits and giggles. It's a fun way to mix things up infrequently. Though I generally only test deads, squats and clean&jerk.

I agree. Unless your in a competition the risks of injury don't justify 1RMs. My ego can do without knowing. And no girls care

I was just commenting on reps I've done recently. I have no idea what my 1RM in DL or squat would be, I haven't lifted really heavy on legs in 10+ years due to concerns about my knees. As a HS senior I squatted and deadlifted 455 though (@ 235 lb bw) I could probably lift more now, but I'm not really that curious about it. I would imagine my 1RM for bench isn't that much more than 335 though, the last rep wasn't really easy at all.

I just thought it was impressive she could lift 280 lb in any way shape or form at 114 lb bw. Her calves look like 3-4" in diameter.

There's another clip of her pulling around 265 in competition, and I think that lift set a record of some sort.

Bench: 275
Squat: 365
Dead: 395

Total: 1035 @ 181 lbs. bodyweight

Can do 5 pull-ups with 2 plates around the waist.

My bench and squat suck. I may compete in a meet in late March if my numbers are good in early March.. B: 245 S: 350 D: 455 All raw. 1050 @ 165

When I was playing hockey competitively: Bench: 225 Squat: 405 Deadlift:475 I was 165 give or take at 5'8. My thighs were massive, as was my back. My chest.... not so much.

I forgot to add, I was fairly freakishly strong for my size, but worse was a teammate that was obviously juicing. He was 5'11, 190-195 and was benching in the realm of 425-450.
