For everyone recommending the iPhone, what exactly about it is so goddamn cool?

I will never use it as a music player. Nor will I ever watch "movies" on it. As of right now, I barely use the internet, and unless you are in a wifi area, (which I rarely am) the iPhone is slow as hell. Typing on a virtual onscreen keyboard will never be as nice as typing on a good QWERTY as far as I'm concerned. Call quality is average. The camera isn't really that great. I hate the company who makes it, and owning one would make me want to die. The battery life is meh.

...so why would I want it?

Seriously, come up with a reason.

The only thing I can think of is that when I'm in an area with unsecured wifi, like... starbucks... or whatever... it has a superior browser to the MotoQ. (which is not a major selling point to me)

During the 90% of my life spent outside wifi hotspots, the MotoQ mops the floor with the iPhone in nearly every conceivable way.

This is not an answer to my question. And chances are... for the variety of reasons posted... that I wouldn't like it. Just to clarify.

I'm extremely happy with the coverage area of AT&T here. My phone works fine 2-3 bars in places where people who use Verizon or T-Mob don't have service. Never had a problem.

Thanks for the info on the BB call quality. Thats pretty important to me. Much more so than email (which I don't need and probably won't be using much). The trackball worries me too, so I probably won't be getting a BB.

WTF does that even MEAN? Please filter out all the Apple speak and rephrase this in regular people language. Do you have a huge problem with phones that function like phones? Did you ever think to yourself, Gee, this cell phone with all these buttons is great, but what I really want to do is replace all the buttons with a fragile, smudgy, touchscreen, and make everything glossy and candy colored. I want to make it so that its primary function (as a phone) is hidden behind a virtual button. That would be excellent. Personally, I'd like to pick up a phone, dial a number on the keypad, and have it call someone. maybe thats too much to ask. I want a phone thats smart enough to know its a phone.

Seriously, I feel like I'm taking crazy pills here. It's not like I've never used an iPhone before. I don't need to be bombarded with generic platitudes about its mystical "User Interface". It's user interface is defined and ultimately limited by its touchscreen, which is a neat toy, but not very practical for me, and not very appealing. Typing on it is a hassle, which is what I'm trying to get AWAY from. keeping it smudge and scratch free would be a nightmare. And the software annoys me. I don't like having to go to the menu, push the phone button, and then either scroll around for a contact, or push another button to bring up a VIRTUAL keypad that requires you to look at the thing while dialing a number that on any other phone, you wouldn't even have to glance at. Apple seems to be on a mission to eradicate all tactile feedback from the world. Apple's keyboards are universally horrible, inert, rubbery, classless pieces of over designed crap to begin with, maybe they figured nobody would miss it.
