http://cgi.ebay.com/ws....75&rd=1 These look like they are in good condition -- any styleforumers up for it?

What does it mean "EG as Church's"? Did EG make shoes for Church's? The reason I ask is that I have a pair of Church's "Custom Grade" loafers I bought to flip on ebay and it would be good to know their origins. Anyone?

I think that it means that it is of similar quality to Church's (a better-known brand). I am pretty sure that EG has never made for Church's, but am ready to be corrected.

Is it of similar quality to Church's? The Church's I've seen are not that impressive, but then again I've only seen a few pairs.

IMMSMC, IMHO Edward Green is to Church's as Turnbull and Asser is to Thomas Pink -- miles, miles better. The auction title is primarily to attract people who have heard of Church's but not Edward Green. Edward Green has no connection with Church's. The best Church's shoes, the Custom Grades, are grossly overpriced. Prada's injection-molded soles are fugly and their new "C-H-U-R-C-H" rubber sole pattern is fantastically ill conceived. The Custom Grades are approximately comparable to regular-line Crockett and Jones, although the Crockett & Jones shoes formerly sold by Peal or at ralph Lauren are much better.

BTW, I asked him about shipping and he said it was $26.60 USD via Airmail, so about $105 total shipped to the US with paypal charges.

Church's custom grade are of less quality than the C&J regular; some retailers in Australia now stock C&J over Church's because the C&J uppers seem alot more durable than the Church's. Many customers in Oz have returned their church's because [sinse Prada took over] the uppers have split along the welt. As for putting the C-H-U-R-C-H-'S on the bottom of the rubber soles,....sigh....what are they thinking. Church's= grain corrected black shoes. Church's= diseaster.
