i ordered in a pair of postman 101s (the oxfords) and i'm gonna pick them up today at a local red wings

anyone have experience with these/the chukkas? worried they'll be slippery-- i've seen a lot of people put vibram soles on them. just wondering if i should do the same

i'm usually a size 9.5 for most brands, but for my iron rangers and postmans i'm a 9D if anyone is on the fence about sizing.
wearing mine right now. not slippery. I'm not sure what kind of vibram sole you would mount to the shoe. it would look funky with a heeled sole. the black wedge crepe it comes with is real nice. the shoe itself is actually NFSI Slip Resistant certified. Not slippery at all.

Hey Guys,

i have a Q considering the Chukkas.

I want to wear them as an urban winter shoe. We have mostly wet streets and some snow, but it will be ok. Can I buy Chukkas as a winter shoe or should I look at something else?

I like the tan sueds best. Are there any differences in durabilty and waterproofness between the sueds and the leather ones?

Regards

Phil

Are the Beckmans narrower than the Iron Rangers? My feet kind of bulge out of the sides of my IR's, but not to the point of being uncomfortable.
They are built on the same last so they should be comparable in fit/sizing. My feet are a little on the wide side so I have Iron Rangers in 8.5 EE and the fit is perfect. My Beckmans are 9.5 D to accommodate for width but they are a bit too long. I wish I could order custom Cherry Featherstone Beckmans in 8.5 EE..

As a reference I am a size 9D in the Allen Edmonds 5-last and size 9 Chucks.

Wha? You have wide feet yet are a 9D in AE 5 last? A last notorious for its narrowness? :/
