Nevermind. Forget I asked that question. I just received these today and I just can't get into liking the moc toe appearance. I try to but once again I can't. I like the look on some people and I like how they look like on display but I can never get me to like them on my feet lol. Unfortunately I'm going to have to return these.

Depends, you'd have to look at the label. Most of the time "boot oil" is just mink oil and something else mixed in.

There are some exceptions though like Neatfoot oil.

Red Wing's boot oil is mink oil and pine pitch, it says so on the front ;)

Mink oil is more of a water-proof/protectant. Darkens leather though.

I feel the same way about them

Sometimes I see photos of moc toes and I'm totally in love and sometimes I feel like they're more oversized than moonboots.

Glad its not just me.

I work with a guy that has 875's that he wears nearly every day. They look cool on him. But every time I try on moc toes, they just don't seem right. I love my chukkas (3141), I find myself always reaching for them most often. I end up wearing them 5-6 days a week.

guys!!!!!

i need your help on a sizing question concerning a red wing pecos boot.  to be sprecific, the 8188 which is a #17 last, the wellington last.  now i am normally a size 9 with my iron rangers, round toe.  i am a 9.5 on the brannock but i wear a 9 on my red wings.  i can wiggle my toes in the iron rangers.  should i buy a size 9 as well in the pecos boots or size up half a size in these boots?  i heard that this 17 last is true to size.   please those who own a pair of these pecos with this 17 last, help me out!!!

thanks!!!!

Oh wow! We have more in common than you think. I too have a pair of Red Wing chukkas 3141 and they're my favorite pair of chukkas. Maybe the classic 6" round toe red wings will look better on us.

I was about to buy this model before I decided to go with the 3141 chukkas. But the Foreman Chukka is pretty cool too. FYI, I found the 3141 chukkas true to size and the Foreman Chukkas half size to big.

Thanks this is helpful cause I was planning to get the same size as my Beckman's. I'm not a fan of the white coloured sole but the boot looks good!

FWIW, I'm not a fan of the white sole either. (My wife has even told me that she doesn't really care for it.)

I ordered my boots just to try them and was mostly planning to return them. I wanted to compare them to the Weekender Chukka, which I was considering at the  time. But the moment I tried them on, I knew I was keeping them. They were much more comfortable than I anticipated. I really like the Briar Oil Slick leather too. I think the color is great, versatile and has some depth to it.

The white sole has grown on me because the boots are comfortable (I think the sole helps with this), they're quiet on hard floors, have decent grip and the color seems to be more off-white than bright white.

I don't have any current pics. If I get a chance I'll try and take some to post in the next few weeks. However, I did post a pic on April 4 in this thread, when they were new.

Visited Red Wing yesterday to look at the Iron Rangers and the 1907s. I ended up with the 1907s. I did like the Iron Rangers too and will probably end up getting them from my wife for my birthday (might consider the 1000 Mile instead). I can see how the Iron Rangers could be more versatile for some people, especially in a darker color, but considering how I intend to use them I didn't feel as though I could wear the Iron Rangers anywhere I couldn't wear the 1907s. I don't ever "dress up" jeans and even if I went with the Iron Rangers it would have been in the copper color and not something darker and more formal.

Break-in for these will be significantly faster than the Iron Rangers, based on wearing both in the store. The Rangers were noticeably stiffer. I wore the 1907s for a couple hours right out of the box with no issues, and felt like I could have worn them most of the day. Having said that I expect them to be even more comfortable in the weeks and months to follow.

No problem put everyone's foot is shaped differently so sizing would be different. Idk much about the regular Beckman boots but the Beckman chukkas feel true to size on me while for some they feel half size big. Hope that helps.
