Hello, I was wondering what the "Last" stands for. I was looking to get a pair of Red Wings and was choosing between the 1907 and the 8138. They look the same but the "last" is different. Any help would be appreciated.

The last determines the shape of the size, see this video (1:48 onward)

I just ordered a pair of Red Wing 2970 Engineer boots and am super excited. I bought a pair of 1907 boots a earlier in the year and I am kind of glad they were too small since the last thing I need in my closet is another pair of 6" boots. I sold them to my neighbor for cheap to fund a motorcycle boot. Since I don't have a boot taller then 6" I went with the 2970.
I was in the air between 877 and 2970, I would have preferred laces, but I was looking for a 10"-12" boot and the 877's are only 8". I would have loved a pair of White's Nomads with a double leather mid sole and Vibram 100 sole but I had to stick with the 2970's because of price.
I saved $46.50 with a coupon I found online so I paid the extra $12 for 2 day shipping and hopefully my helmet and gloves will show up the same day.

I can't wait to them to look like this:

Does anyone own a pair of 2970's on here?
If so let me know your tips or experiences with them.

If you intend to use these as your moto boots, the soles are gonna wear down in no time.

Has anyone used mink oil on the 875's? I heard that it makes them darker

Very happy with the fit right out of the box. They walk lightly for and 11" crepe sole boot which is nice. Only tricky part is I typically wear very slim jeans and my only pair or looser pant are what I have on now. Looks like I need to pick up some boot cut Levi's for riding my motorcycle.

How are do Red Wings feel as year round boots. In considering the 1907 or the 9011 as an everyday shoe but am worried could be too hot to wear in the summer and not warm enough for the winter.

i can't really help in terms of weather, but living in SEA where the weather is alway hot RW feels fine so far.
i like the crepe/christy sole better,it just comes comfy straight away compared to my RW iron ranger.there might also be a chance that i'm not used to heels that made me not so comfy in my iron ranger.
