Nope.  If you end up saturating the leather to the point of your socks getting wet, you could then think about Obenaufing them for the future...but not many people on SF tend to put their boots through that.

Ya, they definitely won't be getting that type of abuse anytime soon. So, obenauf is for putting an oily coating on after that type of use or should it be applied before? My boots will be worn in snow and might occasionally get stepped in a puddle, but not to the point they get soaked I don't think.

Leave them be.  Wetness isn't a huge deal, certainly not to the extent that yours will experience.  The biggest issue is salt, and then dirt/dust/grime.  Wipe your boots down occassionally with a damp rag, especially if/when there is salt on the boot.  Beyond that, brush them from time to time with a horsehair brush, and clean up the welt with a stiffer brush.

I have a pair of the Red Wing Wabasha boots that was made for J. Crew. I have owned them for a few years now. They need resoling. Red Wing has told me that they did not manufacture those boots and thus cannot resole them. They have a moccasin construction. I assume one of the companies in Maine made them for Red Wing. Would anybody know who manufactured these boots for Red Wing?

Either Rancourt or Highland manufactured them. Likely Rancourt. However, Rancourt will not resole a shoe unless it has their name on it.

Ask Red Wing to arrange a resole for you. If that doesn't work, a cobbler may be able to do it. All it requires is a rapid stitcher.

Couldn't choose a boot brand or style so decided to try them all… This is what I call a leather addiction! LOL!

Yeah… that's a great question!

Since I wear suits more often then jeans, I think it'll be my Alden 401 or the Wolverine Krause. I've been wearing my Alden Boots daily, as my "go to", right-out-the-door wear boots and love them… but I still feel myself "wanting" to baby them, even though I don't.

The Wolverine 1000 Mile Krause Boot is so comfortable, solid, and feels more like a "get sh*t done" kinda boot. My Alden Boots get lots of attention and compliments for being stylish… but whenever I'm walking on the beach, in sand, mud… I'm thinking to myself "I'd rather be wearing my Wolverines" ...

So they are my tie for 1st.

2nd are definitely My Red Wing Boot (9015)… they are GREAT, just a bit stiff during the "break-in" period. Whenever I am wearing jeans, I'm almost always in Red Wing Boots.

My ranking (as of today):

1a. Alden = Dress/Formal Style Compatibility
1b. Wolverine Krause = slightly less of the above + Comfort and Solid

2. Red Wing 9015 = with jeans, 100% Solid, Tough,

3. Red Wing 8130 = same as the above with a bit more comfort due to the sole.

4. Wolverine Rockford

5. Allen Edmonds Long Branch

6. Timberland

Can anyone comment on the fit of the Postmans? I've heard both that they fit narrow and large so I don't know what to believe...

I went true to size on mine which is a 10. I'm a ten in AE, 9.5 in Wolverine 1K and pretty much 10 across the board on my running shoes. I would say that I could have gone down a half size which I believe is the case w/ most RW however when I purchased them they were sold out of the nine and half.

Can anyone tell me what model these are ? They might just be part of Red Wings regular line for all I know. I've been looking for something like this lately.
