Yeah I oil my IR Ambers once a month. Even set a monthly alarm on my phone to remind me. At 5 months they're looking good but I definitely gotta get a summer boot.

Looking at 9111, 8166, 875, or 1907.

Anybody got any insights as to which would be the most comfortable to wear during a Chicago summer?

I know that it is recommended to size down half to full size on the Red Winds, but what about width?

I wear 11.5 E in Allen Edmonds comfortably, would an 11 D in Red Wing Beckmans be okay?

Edit: 11.5 E in Park Avenue.

Depends on the AE model you wear. If you wear an 11.5 E in, say, the Park Avenue, I think you'd be OK with the 11 D Beckman.

Just my two cents. I wear a 12E in Park Avenue and an 11.5D in an Iron Ranger, if that helps.

Not a Red Wing boot post per se, but still it has two very important pieces in it:

Beautiful, aren't they?

Apparently the head of Red Wing Japan sent both the messenger bag and wallet to Mr. Ronnie Fieg as a gift. But before you get too excited...they're only available in Japan!

Why do they do this?! Why can't they figure out that people in the US will buy this stuff if they make it available to them? This seems to be the ultimate in nonsensical courses of action: that a guy should have to proxy for something that is made in his own country (well the leather anyway, but it's not like a messenger bag and wallet are beyond American craftsmanship).

I am not certain I can pull off the, "I'm a child dying of cancer and my last wish is to get a Red Wing messenger bag and wallet" but that still won't stop me from contacting Red Wing USA to try.

Seriously though, if somebody can find where these are sold (Red Wing Japan doesn't even have them up on their site yet) I'd be interested in knowing (that and who could proxy).

Yeah 11.5 E in the Park Avenue. I may order an 11 D Beckman from Zappos to see how it fits. Thanks for the reply.

My 2 cents on the RW sizing issue:
I wear 12 D comfortably in two different AE models (a brogued captoe blutcher and the other's called Dryden). My running shoes are 13 and the sales dude actually wanted me in a 14, the idea being that you want a full size larger for running shoes. I am a bit too snug in my Sambas size 12 to be honest. Bottom line: my shoe size is like a 12.5.
My newest pair of footware is the RW 8130. I have it in 11.5 D, and to be honest it's a bit too large still, and maybe (maybe) a bit too tight. My fear is that an 11 would have been a bit too small, which would have been worse.
Anyway, all of this adds up to the idea that you should not fear buying RWs a full size down, and maybe even more depending on fit preferences.
Try buying them from a site like shoebuy like I did; they have free returns, not to mention free shipping, frequent sales, and a stackable discount for new customers. I ordered multiple pairs and sizes and settled on the 8130 for less than $175.

You won't be able to find it in Toronto (or in Canada...). Just go to their website and make a purchase. They have special packages available. Ordered mine earlier in the year and didn't have any trouble.
