Hi! Just joined this forum. Infact, my first of this kind. Been active in many audiophile forums for years but this is an interesting place for sure! Ended up here lurking around for information on Redwing 1907. The first time I saw it, I fell in love with it.
I'm not a workman type. Walk very little to be frank (although I work out and in rather good shape) I'm an IT guy who spends most of my time in a climate controlled office for around 10hrs a day. I bought them because of their style - my confession. Bought the cream, mink oil and boot oil from Red Wing, as well as placed an order for Obenauf LP and their boot oil as well. Usually I use the
Tanner's Preserve
combo for my other shoes. New to mink oil or boot oil or even obenauf stuff.
But now I need help from experienced guys like you here. My problem is the damn pain associated with 'breaking-in'. Plus my rather inexperienced folly of ordering the wrong size, am afraid. My foot are rather wide. I'm comfortable in a 9.5W/E in Timberland, Florsheims and Sketchers. But after reading multiple threads on RedWing fitting and downsizing, I jumped in and bought a 9D 1907, new from ebay. Yesterday was my 5th wear in the last 2 months. It pains like hell and my heels are always blistering and/or swollen. Even my little toes hurt every time I wear them

Can't return it now and will loose out if I resell them used. Plus, I really love them!
Any advice on the merits of boot
stretchers or the much praised
ice pack thing in youtube?!
Do you guys think these will help soften the leather after while? Or am I just going to be in more pain till the boot finally break in, hopefully?
