Hi there,

I am considering getting the 3141 Red Wing Chukka. My feet are quite wide, would you say that I should just purchase right now, or should I definitely try on before buying? I own a few Blundstones that fit me quite well but a lot of other shoes I have purchased and completely failed me because they are not wide enough.

I prefer the Red Wing 595 Chukka, which is available in multiple width sizing.

My 3141's are about the most comfortable shoes I own but they do run a little narrow. I'd suggest either trying them on first or ordering from somewhere that has free return shipping.

Thank you! Just out of curiosity, what shoes do you own besides these Red Wing?

Not heritage boots but they are made in USA.

My new 2233 boots for work. 1st wear and felt very comfortable, warm and kept me dry. Very impressed and don’t feel like they’ll need much break in. These get very positive reviews on red wings site.

Leather isn’t as fancy as the heritage line but is definitely sturdy and feels supple.

Your boot model 2233 is from the Made-In-USA work boot collection, which I consider to be Red Wing's best

Your pair of model 2233 is part of the Red Wing Made in USA work line. I consider this to be Red Wing's best product including materials used and width sizing availability. Truly well crafted durable footwear. In contrast, I believe the Red Wing Heritage line is fashion footwear.

Has anyone done some serious traveling, visiting and walking in cities in a pair of 1907s? I'm debating if I should take my pair for an upcoming year end trip or just go with sneakers instead for max comfort. Thanks.

I expect that at the end of a day of walking you will be more comfortable having worn a pair of model 1907 than you would having worn sneakers.

I bought my 1907 half a size too big. Should have gone down 1 full size. There's quite a bit of heel slip on regular thick cotton socks. The boots are worn so they are no longer returnable. I put a couple of miles on them but the leather is still very stiff and refusing to bend. Would you recommend adding extra insole at this point to fix the heel slip? If so, what insole would you recommend? Thanks.

Yes, an insole will snug up the fit and there are many to choose from including Red Wing branded
$35 Memory Foam Comfortforce (thick memory foam with an antimicrobial fabric top) or $65 RW branded significant arch support Multi Purpose Revolution Orthotic Footbed.
Other than Red Wing, on Amazon for example there are many available footbeds from $25 to $49 in a range of thicknesses without any significant arch support. Or, $55 to $70 footbeds with arch support. Either style will snug up the fit.
Have you worn any footwear with significant arch support, such as a pair of Birkenstock or maybe boots from Nicks or Whites? The benefit is arch support changes the orientation of the feet a bit which helps a person with their posture while standing or walking.

I have worn my redwings 9045 for close to 8 years. The shoes have been well worn and it become costly to restore them. Shoes is currently retired.

Here is to share the state of the shoes
