Explaining the raw denim, no wash thing on internet message boards always seems to go in the same pattern.

Jesus, this is much worse than the NeoGAF thread (and apparently dry denim wearers are "******-emo-anarchists-nihlists"):
This is a bad idea for more than just the stink.

Cotton gets doused with insecticides while it sits in those subtropical warehouses waiting to be sewn, gets starched by more than just cornstarch before it can be efficiently handled by machinery.

Translation: Wear it without washing and your skin is going to drink up those additives as soon as you begin to sweat. God help you if you go commando-- that will be one painful rash, my friends.
All the fun in having ripped jeans sans the fun of getting them ripped in the first place, which gets you the.........Call it the Dane Cook Theorem of Laidism=If THAT story doesn't get you......Real rips come with real stories.

/stupid poseurs.
My apartment smells like smoke, ******, sometimes cat poo if I don't clean out the cat box regularly, and whatever I cooked last. I wear everything once and wash it.

The GAF clothing threads are always hilarious. Guys who spend hundreds a month on games are suddenly appalled by guys who spend the same on clothing.

I can't even guess what that Dane Cook quote was supposed to mean.

What's almost as bad as the completely ignorant anti-fashion people who say that not washing jeans is gross and $8 walmart jeans are more than enough, are people who start spouting **** about raw denim as if they're some kind of holy grail that instantly makes you cool and fashionable. A lot of us here are into raw denim because they generally come in cuts that are flattering and in cleaner looking dark denim rather than loose fit bootctus, stonewashed to hell with intentional fraying.

The last thing i'd ever do is try to explain the whole raw denim/caring about your clothes things to some of my friends. A few i'll give advice to when i know they want it, otherwise most of them don't care. I never tell people about my clothes unless they ask, and even when they do i try to be discreet about it.

People are entitled to their opinions. Many times, people react violently to things they don't understand. Since they're clearly not hurting anyone, I'd just let Farkers be and hope some sort of cat meme image comes out of it.

Alot of disinformation comes from the pro-raw side too. You'll hear them say that all raw jeans are selvege, or all selvege jeans are raw, or all raw jeans are thicker, or necessarily last longer, &c.

Also, the accusation that someone "doesn't understand fashion" always throws me for a loop. Is there ever really anything to "understand" about fashion?
